Earlier today, my colleague Leon Wolf, commented on the authoritarian tendencies of the most devoted Trump supporters. Now we have evidence of the megalomania that feeds the authoritarian response.
Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump on Saturday said his rhetoric condemning the Iranian regime played an integral part in securing the release of four U.S. prisoners.
âSo Iâve been hitting them hard, and I think I might have had something to do with it,â Trump said at the South Carolina Tea Party Convention in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
âYou want to know the truth, whoâs using it? Itâs a part of my staple thing. I mean, I go crazy when I hear about this,â he added.
âTheyâre in one of the worst prisons in the world, and we had to do something, so Iâd always talk about it.â
This is ludicrous.
First off, virtually every utterance of Donald Trump has been covered by the news media. There may be some glottal stops and coughs that werenât transcribed but those would be damned few. If you go to Google and search for articles containing âDonald Trumpâ and âJason Rezaianâ* you get 0 freakin hits between July 1, 2015 and January 10, 2016. In fact, the first time the names appear in the same article is when Trump is complaining about the deal (by the way, Iâm glad those men are out of Iran, but there are two additional Americans still in prison there, and the deal was a horrible kowtowing to Iran by the administration). If you go to a broader search, and use âiranâ and âprisonersâ you find that Trump has mentioned them twice. Once at a rally in July and again in September.

Really, the megalomaniac wants to equate himself to the Reagan Iranian hostage scenario?
The real megalomania is that of politicians who believe they have the only right to rule because they are of the “establishment.”
Change the narrative, all the time. This let's you move out in front because everyone is attacking chimeras left behind.
In his defense “I think I might have had something to do with it” isn’t the same as claiming credit.
But no...I think he had absolutely nothing to do with it.
Had Obama even considered this previously?
Red State needs to calm down.
Trump was burned by bamy, at least seemingly, in a mainstream LIV point of view.
Trump hasn’t really been able to answer it yet, although it should be easy.
Wishful thinking though.
Trump can claim anything he wants about the prisoner exchange because Obama is never going to release the true details.
He is wonderful
He is smart
He is great and wonderfully smart
AND now he is re-incarnated
We just thought Obama was a narcissist.......
With a post like.this one, it’s always nice to ‘tag’ it with a BARF ALERT!!
Perhaps Donald's gears are beginning to slip a wee bit.....
Trump has always said he would the prisoners released before he is sworn in as President. America thanks you President Trump!!!
Sullying the man’s image about sullying the man’s image.
*sigh*
Donald Trump’s most negative characteristic is his huge ego.
Never-the-less, it is not outside the possibility that the Iran mullahs noticed how focused Trump is on restoring the US to power and respectability, ala Ronald Reagan. So, for him to say that he ‘might have something to do with it’ is not irrational, although it may be bragging a bit. [which drives the Democrats crazy]

Donald Trump, The Greatest Thing Since, Well Donald Trump.
Donald Trump, 2004
Trump knows how to make heads “explode” and not just Lib/Prog/Dem heads. He’s gotten it down to a push-button science during this campaign. Rush Limbaugh does it when he says “talent on loan from God” and “with one hand tied behind my back”. Those that ‘know’ Rush, find it amusing when those sorts of pronouncement cause heads to explode - same thing with Trump.
Is Redstate a liberal website? I have not visited it.No. Regardless of what the Trumpites - with their spinning heads spewing everywhere - might have you believe. Redstate is a long standing premier conservative blog site.
