Exactly!
Gotta love cowboys!
People who haven’t been around cows don’t realize how dangerous they can be. For one thing, they are BIG.
Definitely *not* New York values!
Quote from a news reader when the Western wear craze exploded after the release of the Urban Cowboy movie: “The closest to a cow any of these New Yorkers have been is at the checkout line of a Burger King.”
Why not?
Amen. Had the opportunity to herd cows for a day, moving them from one pasture to another. Hard work and sore afterward (horseback). And I was 20 y/o & in the best shape of my life...but not in cowboy shape.
Love the headlines....city saved from a stampede....2 cows running loose is a stampede?? Gotta love them cowboys.
Being in shape for riding is different from general physical fitness.
The interview made me smile, though not laugh. The boy on the left, with the dimples, is a dead ringer for John Michael Montgomery, the 90s country music star.
I lived in Pasadena, TX at that time, regularly went to Gilley’s. actually got to ride at the head of the rodeo parade the year the movie was released through an odd turn of events as I was working for the Mayor at the time.
I think I saw on the evening news that Gilley’s is going to reopen next year, don’t remember the new location.
Me too. I've spent time in San Antonio and San Angelo. San Antonio was too hot in the summer, and San Angelo was too cold in the winter.
One fun thing in San Angelo was watching country boys and girls cut street corners in jacked-up 4x4's by driving over curbs as if they weren't there.
Even so, I still give a hearty HOOra! for Texas.
I didn’t hear an accent. Sounded perfectly normal.
That was SO much fun. Thank you so much for posting it.
Yep, and some of them are territorial. Don’t turn your back!
Texicans are a different kind of critter. Wasn’t born here but got here as fast as I could (actually Mrs. Fella had everything to do with that).
coral==a marine growth in the sea
CORRAL==both a verb & a noun, involving ranch activity
That cow was one of a bunch my old man bought from the Texas prison system.
When cows are too salty for the prisoners to handle it’s best to leave them alone.
That same cow ran over me more than once which is why I still have her skull nailed up on my house.
We went to Gilley’s many years ago, just a loud beer hall, I was not impressed. We now have The Redneck Country Club, haven’t been there. I hear the musical guest are good.
