Disagree. Is it not possible to hijack the term “conservative”?

Heck we see it even in the GOPe, so why not.

Your above statement ASSUMES that there are no true conservatives in this state ( I live here ). Trump referred to one — Bill Buckley ( but that was a straw man as Cruz was not talking about men like him ).

There are still MANY conservatives ( as opposed to your “conservatives” ) who live in New York and the tri-state area.

There are quite a number. Not large enough to make a difference but large enough to contribute money for a true conservative to get his message across.

I live in NY state and as Dianny said, NYC is the tail that wags the state. NY is bleeding people for a reason.

A New York State of Mind

I have a little inside baseball for all my friends who are not from the Great State of New York.

New York State residents think New York City is a cesspool with Leftist/Socialist politicians who end up controlling Albany (our capital). We think of New York City as the wee little tail that wags the whole state.

In fact, we hate New York City so much, we wanted to be able to secede from Manhattan entirely and create the 51st State. In 2013, when a survey was going around to vote on this secession, I wrote a column called “Free New York” (which is now available in my first collection of columns RANT: Politics & Snark in the Age of Obama) in which I wrote:
