One of Russian leader Vladimir Putin's most high-profile allies has accused the opposition of trying to exploit the economic crisis to destabilize the country, using Stalin-era rhetoric to suggest unnamed individuals be put on trial for sabotage.

Our very own progressive socialists see Christian conservatives and other dissenters against their totalitarian program as enemies of the mystical god-state. But then they’re Stalinists who if absolute power fell into their grasping hands would do more than just psychologically demonize, describe as mentally ill, and abuse us in myriad other ways as they do on a daily basis. Should such power become theirs, they would round us up and cause us to disappear into death camps the same as their murderous icons did to hapless Russians.
