'This Is Embarrassing': New York Daily News Blasted for 'Disgusting' Cover Attacking Ted Cruz

The New York Daily News was blasted online for a cover set to hit newsstands Friday targeting Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz.

"DROP DEAD, TED," read bold letters on the front page of the liberal newspaper - directly next to an image of the Statue of Liberty giving the senator the middle finger.

Stop the presses! A new Page 1... DROP DEAD, TED: https://t.co/68hKgqmjBx pic.twitter.com/veDsxLYDTN

- New York Daily News (@NYDailyNews) January 15, 2016

The cover was a response to comments the Texas senator made about "New York values." Earlier this week, Cruz went after 2016 rival Donald Trump by arguing that the businessman had "New York values" and, thus, wasn't aligned with Iowa voters.

During Thursday night's debate, the senator stood by his remarks and argued "not many conservatives come out of Manhattan." In a poignant moment, Trump offered a powerful rebuttal invoking 9/11 that earned him much praise.

Readers of the Daily News, however, seemed to care less about the comments Cruz had made and more about the over-the-top statement the paper had printed on its cover. Some even contended the Daily News was proving Cruz's point.

@NYDailyNews I am NOT a supporter of Cruz, however this picture is disgusting, even for N.Y, media.

- Steven Nelson (@sn64867) January 15, 2016

@NYDailyNews Way to perfectly illustrate Cruz's point. This is embarrassing.

- John Iaquinta (@JohnnyMets213) January 15, 2016

@NYDailyNews Oh yeah, that'll teach 'em some values! How the hell are you hacks still selling papers?

- Nancy (@EnPointe2) January 15, 2016

@NYDailyNews wtf is wrong with you?? You just can't wish death on ppl! Everyone has a right to their own personal opinion. #blocked

- Noyb (@_smthbtful) January 15, 2016

@NYDailyNews Cover proves @Tedcruz #NYValues right. Majority of #USA rejects this low brow behavior. It's Immature and Ignorant. #tcot #gop

- American Fact (@AmericanFact) January 15, 2016

A spokesperson for Cruz's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheBlaze.

It was Cuomo, the Prince of Darkness.

Governor Cuomo: "Extreme Conservatives Have No Place In New York"

New York Values after 9/11 will forever be associated with bravery under fire... and great dignity in the face of ruin.

Sorry to disappoint, but that's just not true. New York has way too many decades of corruption, union thuggery, organized crime, socialism, gun-grabbing, abortion, nanny-state, intrusive government, support of faggotry and being home to a huge chunk of the depraved and perverted leftists in Big Media to be washed away by 9/11. It could have been a turning point for them. It wasn't.

NYC values are limiting the size of drinks and letting men urinate in the streets. It has NOTHING to do with 9/11 and everything to do with liberal politics.

This is why, for his decline in polling numbers, Dr. Carson was a breath of fresh air pleading to focus the fight on the Dems and libs.

Although, at the time of 9/11, the city was cleaned up under one former Mayor Rudy.

So you polled everyone from New York?

The New York State Board of Elections did. The results are sitting in the New York General Assembly, the various New York State offices, the United States Congress, and the White House.

Over the past decade, we Americans in West Virginia have thrown the vast majority of our democrats out of office. I challenge New Yorkers to do the same.

It was. I give Rudy a lot of respect for that. Unfortunately, Rudy is no longer Mayor of New York. New Yorkers have spoken. They prefer DeBlasio.

Will any of the usual liberal “civility police” denounce this? They haven’t denounced any of this paper’s earlier crap, so I doubt it.

Sen. Ted may have burned himself last night, which I hope he did not, but I wonder.

A couple of years ago, NY Gov. Cuomo said that pro-gun, anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage conservatives do not embody New York values, so Cruz was just agreeing with him.

"I believe de blasio said something about conservatives being unwelcome in NYC. Or words to that effect."

I think it was Governor Cuomo, about two years ago.

Good. A whole lot of old-line WV democrat voters have learned that voting for Republicans doesn’t give you cooties. I recommend that fact for consideration by old-line NY democrat voters.

You are right. But de Blasio defended the comment.

Sen. Ted may have burned himself last night, which I hope he did not, but I wonder.

The good people still left in NYC/NY state know that Ted was correct. They might condemn Ted in public and then vote for him in private. We see that with people claiming they are outraged at what Trump says, and many will vote for Trump and not admit it.. The Bradley effect with two white candidates daring to say non PC realities.

Or may leave people undecided a bit longer or go undecided for now.
