An awful LOT of people in NYC aren't real NEW YORKERS; they moved there from all over FLYOVER COUNTRY and they are THE damned rudest people ever!

I've seen "pushy" people in many different states, also in some states they ares a bunch of cold fish and if you weren't born there, they view you as unworthy. I've also seen a lot of PHONY "friendly people in other states. Nasty people are all over this nation; good/nice ones too.

I was once a BIG Cruz supporter ( when he ran for the Senate and afterwards ), then he was my second choice, now....I can’t stand him.

Thanks, but I'm also blessed that my family on both sides went West in The Great Depression. Mom's side were OK Sooners originally from Alabama. Dad's side went from Alabama to Arizona. Both families came back to Alabama after several years when some prosperity returned. Therefore, my inherited Southern drawl was reduced to some phrases and inflections with Southwest and Midwest overtones. I can pass for intelligent to a Yankee, so I've got that going for me. ;^)

Early childhood in Manhattan, boarding school in Pa., undergrad college in N.H., vacations in Bermuda, at parent's property through college, graduate school and newlywed years, so my accent is a mess of it all. LOL

Fortunately, I did NOT pick up a Chicago accent when we lived there. :-)

"Winners" -- what in hell is wrong with people? The only time being a winner is good is if what you win is good, and if you win it honestly.

Maybe you win "a major award" like the beautiful *cough* lamp in The Christmas Story -- wow, what a winner!!! At least he won it honestly, through "brain power."

Then there are the folks who win by cheating. Are they winners, BFAC? And if not, why not?

In some circles, such as my own, it's common knowledge that someone who has to lie to win is a loser. Even when he wins.

Trump lied blatantly about Ted Cruz's stance on ethanol in order to "win" people to his own side. In some circles, that makes him a loser.

But winning is the only important thing, right, BFAC?

I’m with you! Cruz was my second choice, but he is increasingly freaking me out. In Iowa he overdoes the humble “preacher” routine; and at this debate it was snark, snark, snark.

I actually don’t have a 2nd choice right now, although at various points during the debate I actually thought that Kasich and Christie seemed to be likable chaps in comparison to some of the others (OMG...don’t tell anyone I said that...lol).

Is the Trump supporter AGAIN taking the tack that if you criticize Trump it's because you're jealous of his wealth and success?

It is exactly like accusing those of criticizing Obama as being racists.

There is a really great saying in the bible. Love of money is the root of all evil. It seems many Trump supporters love money so much that they think anyone who can make vast amounts of it, must be very smart. And it is a very stupid assumption. All it means is that they are very good at accruing money.

Maybe you're just young, nopardons. I am old enough to know well that there is exactly ZERO correlation between money and happiness. ZIP. Money is just money; risking money is risking just money.

Coming from a line of folks who risked a whole helluva lot more than mere money to achieve success, I laugh out loud when I hear people describe Trump as having "cojones." Wrong -- Trump's cojones are really more like frijoles. It's why he has to brag and boast.

IMO, Trump is a poor pathetic loser with a lot of money.

Good grief!!! You complain about “snark” in Cruz and instead turn to Trump? That’s like complaining about a skunk and then going to the sewage plant to get away from the smell.

Don’t forget Dayton and Toledo (or as we call it here Little Detroit)!

That’s more or less my point in terms of NYC’s demographics. The majority (which does not mean totality) is blue and has liberal values.

As for Cruz, I don’t think this’ll hurt him very much. In the early states like Iowa it’ll probably play well, and by the time it gets to New York we’ll have moved on to other reasons to hate or love various candidates.

Trump has refrained from making too big a deal about being from NY...which is wise. Folks across the country basically do not like NYers. Sometimes good naturedly sometimes not.
Having said that Im convinced Trump is what we need now but can certainly vote for Cruz too.

Yes, it's a wait and see thing; however, since Cruz will NEVER win N.Y., no states in N.E., Pa., N.J., and a few others, there is extremely little chance that he can win the general.

He'll also NEVER get at least 25% of the black vote, that Trump has now, nor the crossover disaffected Dem votes.

I don't even see him doing as well as Romney did; sadly.

Born, raised, and educated in the Southern Tier, and speaking as such, I say that the whole gamut of politicians from Albany to New York City are a bunch of washed-up losers, Dem or Rep, bar none. Only a ship of fools would let an alien from Chicago-land (Hillary) move in and give over the political machinery for her own personal use.

If you had read my previous post it might make more sense. Trump has an arrogance about him, but at the same time manages to come across as likable and quirky. Plus, you know exactly who he is.

Cruz was just flat-out snarky and pretentious; completely belying the "humble revival tent preacher" routine that he as adopted here in Iowa. Perhaps that why it seemed to stark to me.

Just on the numbers, after all, being a New Yorker is nothing for which any presidential politician needs to apologize. New York has produced more presidents than any other state -- seven out of 43 total.

First of all, the accuracy of this statement is questionable (I believe Virginia has produced eight presidents).

Secondly, this statement show exactly why New York is filled with losers. New York was -- by far -- the largest U.S. state in terms of population for much of the nation's history. This hasn't been the case for a long time ... New York now occupies the #4 spot, and continues to drop as more and more of its residents flee the Marxist dump for other states. New York hasn't produced a winning presidential candidate in 72 years.

They'd be shocked to know that ninety per cent of the state is rural, farmland, mountains, and forests.

And rapidly depopulating.

I agree. I’m very disheartened FREEPERS are jumping on this bandwagon when everyone damn good and we’ll knows what Cruz meant. Trump whole campaign is based on rough, harsh comments without apology - with non-stop excuses made for them. That aside, I will vote for Trump if he’s the nominee...but this is pathetic.

“I just hate the idea that a guy that should be selling watches out of his rain coat is convincing good conservatives that he is one of them. He will be like bringing home a rattlesnake for a pet.”

I wouldn’t go that far in dissing the “guy” - Cruz, although Cruz does remind me of a used car salesman.
