Bob Dole ran for president each time the job was open - in 1996, 1988, and 1980, and for vice president in 1976, forty years ago. He always lost. Honored for his heroic service in World War II, Dole two months ago - notably on Veterans Day - endorsed Jeb Bush. It had as much effect on the race as George Pataki's withdrawal.
And last month, Dole said he would not vote for Donald Trump or Ted Cruz against Hillary - and further, ever gracious toward Democrats, said that Barack Obama is "a very good man." Dole's conduct thus explains Jeb, who represents the status quo of the Old Guard and the crony capitalism of the Chamber of Commerce. As Rush Limbaugh once explained: "Jeb is a placeholder for all the people who want to return to power in Washington with him as the candidate getting them there."
Thus, insider Dole's endorsement was a negative for Jeb. And Republican voters surely do not consider Obama a nice guy, but rather the most divisive president in memory.

Wait....Pataki is out of the race? But he was just about to get a surge!
The GOP better wake up - they have essentially LOST power and better get with the NEW program or QUIT!!!!!!!!!
The GOPe is done and over with...we are just sitting around waiting for the voting to open up and put Trump in as POTUS so we can have a better America and finally get up and go to a ‘real’ job....
Go home GOPe, your done....maybe Jebby’s mommy will want you...
Bob Dole, Thank you for your heroic service in WWII. Too bad you got into politics. Now please go quietly away.
But he said he loves his mother more.
He used awkward, even archaic expressions and misspoke often.
You try thinking in Spanish and speaking in English.
Mitt Romney would have a better chance.
Ouch!
The Bush’s are among the ones who broke it! Now they want Jeb! to fix it???
Bob Dull, as some call him, really is a loose cannon in his senior years, but KS people don’t know that.
I believe I read that Dole came from a Democrat family and wanted to be Democrat too but was told he couldn’t win office in Russell, KS, unless he was a Republican. Sound familiar?
Jeb’s new nickname should be “Fix it Felix”.
Hard as it is for me to be serious about Yeb!, I would have to challenge this statement. That talent has failed utterly to keep its employer from the most basic and egregious errors in forming a public persona. "Yeb can fix it!"? Really? This is branding, not sloganeering, and such things are and need to be taken very deliberately, focus-grouped, run through different demographics of age, wealth, and geographic location, and it is that role that decent political consultancy fills and is compensated very handsomely for. Yeb wasted millions of dollars on a campaign with all the deftness of a lead weight rolling down the basement stairs. The now-infamous tippy-toe incident? Cringe-making. Any one of Cruz's daughters would have rolled her eyes and said, "Daddy, please don't do that." And she'd have been right.
I don't know the man personally but by all accounts he isn't stupid, and despite the rather sequestered lifestyle of the wealthy and entitled, really ought to be a bit less out of touch with ordinary American life than the tone-dear, ham-handed doofus he played on TV. If that's his real self, it's his fault, but if it hit TV, it's his staff's.
Bob Dole ... old age brain rot is such an insidious disease.
I’d be willing to bet Yeb! can’t fix anything. Probably doesn’t know which end of the screwdriver to hold onto.
“those coming here illegally do so out of love”?
Hey Jeb, STHU and just go away and take your buddy Hillary with your sorry RINO ass.
