Actually, 75 percent or more of Congress’s business could be handled online — votes, committee meetings, caucuses, etc. There’s no reason our congresspeople have to be traveling to and from Washington like it’s 1789 or something. They could stay in their home districts, near their constituents — a prospect that probably terrifies the hell out of them. The only reason to continue the present system is it allows them to escape the home folks and enriches the coffers of DC bartenders and hookers.

yes, Jenny agree. My daughter suggested that in her American Government paper back when South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanfordwas& telling his wife he was hiking the Appalachian Trail but having an affair affair with a woman in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Some of her points were:

Keep Congress in their own state to keep accountable to constituents.

Use internet for official business & open to Sunshine laws.

Make more impossible for lobbyist

Give additional security from terrorists for 1/3 of our federal government

Also, more economical:
Why have double congressional offices & staff?

donate the House & Senate building to Smithsonian. Use only for SOTU &/or declaring war

Use government office buildings for low income housing & shopping mall
