“The removal of the classified marking is a federal crime.”

I know Di Genova has stated this but I reviewed 18 USC 793 which is the statute cited in other articles, and I can’t find anything that specifically says this.

If there are any FReepers out there who are knowledgeable of federal criminal law, please let me know if there is a statute that specficlly addresses the removal of classified markings being a criminal offense.

I’m not an expert by any means, but it looks like the applicable part would be:

“transmits or causes to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted ...”

Penalty: Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.
