An attack by McCain would be a badge honor. McCain is a flake and I hope the good folks of Arizona realize that fact when McCain comes up for re-election.

A GOP that wasn’t curious about Obama’s background is suddenly concerned about Cruz.

I’m only just barely interested in what GOP does at this point. I’m interested in Trump and Cruz. Nothing else the party is selling even interests me. (and you can imagine, seeing the only two candidates I care about attacking one another doesn’t thrill me)

If McCain gives Cruz the shiv, that is just more of the same. McCain has done that to people his entire career. Anyone who ever depended on McCain has met with the same treatment, the knife in the back at the worst moment. If GOP decides to get in on the action, even by proxy, then I am done with them. I would hate to see Trump go down this road.

I still think Trump may take Cruz as his Veep, if he gets the nomination. This is getting that issue out of the way, long before the general. I think they are just getting in front of the issue and taking it away from the msm.

Thanks to McCain, however, Cruz has an opportunity to go on the attack on this issue---i.e. the Gop-e is so desperate and fearful of him as an outside reformer, they'd go so far as to deprive him of his citizenship.

Exactly....this is a great opportunity for Cruz to go the attack...if he can do it.

The Tea Party movement provided one of those moments in time that is a “time for choosing.”

Ted chose wisely, and at some risk to his political future and standing. Others were weak.

That’s just my opinion. Others may differ.

As long as Ted’s mother can turn her American birth certificate, he’s in.

So McCain demonstrates what a dumb@$$ he is, and that is somehow revenge on Cruz?

Nope. Cruz will be POTUS not anyone’s VP. This whole thing is not even an issue, it’s only being brought up by fringe kooks and ignorant enemies of Cruz who don’t understand the law and want to smear him as he rises in the polls.

Either way this goes will not be opportunity lost, as Cruz could use the situation to sue the Government for discrimination, bringing Obama into the case and subject to deposition......Cruz is brilliant enough to do this.

The Nationality Act of 1940 outlines which children become "nationals and citizens of the United States at birth."

". . . under the law in effect between 1952 and 1986 - Cruz was born in 1970 - someone must have a citizen parent who resided in the United States for at least 10 years, including five after the age of 14, in order to be considered a natural-born citizen. Cruz's mother, Eleanor Darragh, was born in Delaware, lived most of her life in the United States, and gave birth to little Rafael Edward Cruz in her 30s. Q.E.D.

So why all the brouhaha about where Obama was born, given that there's no dispute that his mother, Ann Dunham, was a citizen? Because his mother was 18 when she gave birth to the future president in 1961 and so couldn't have met the 5-year-post-age-14 residency requirement. Had Obama been born a year later, it wouldn't have mattered whether that birth took place in Hawaii, Kenya, Indonesia, or anywhere else."

.... Perhaps the reason the establishment hates Ted Cruz is that he was such a solid member of that establishment, before the tea party changed everything.
I see no facts in your opinion.

And in his answer McCain was still wrong. He is a natural-born citizen, not because he was born in the Canal Zone, but because his parents were citizens. If birth in the Canal Zone conveyed natural-born citizenship status then any Panamanian national who happened to give birth in the Zone would be giving birth to a U.S. citizen. That wasn’t the case.

Right. Trump had all this time to raise it, but decided to do it 3 weeks before Iowa. /s

I don’t know why people only talk of Dems taking on Cruz on this issue. There are a lot of GOPe that would love to take Cruz down.
