A woman was charged with third-degree assault earlier this week after she allegedly tased her sister-in-law multiple times after an argument at a resort in Hilton Head, according to a report from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
The 44-year-old Ohio woman allegedly tased her relative multiple times on her back and arms following a long argument the victim had with her husband over finances and a broken cellphone, the report said. The victim struck the woman several times to try to free herself during the altercation, and the woman called the Sheriff's Office as a result.
The woman told deputies that security at Marriott's Barony Beach Club had been called about the couple's argument multiple times before the taser incident early Sunday morning. She said she used the taser after hearing objects being thrown in the couple's room and entering to find her sister-in-law hitting her brother. The brother denied that any physical altercation took place between him and his wife, the report said.
Deputies found the taser victim had several red welts from the incident.
The woman was charged with third-degree assault, taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center, and released on bond later Sunday morning, according to the jail log
