They set the fire in 2001, which almost killed their relative and which burned out 140 acres of federal land and took it out of production for two years.

Now, I may not live in Eastern Oregon, but in North Dakota and Eastern Montana, rangeland recovers in a year or less after a fire.

I'm no expert on grazing. The two year figure was mentioned in the appeal court decision. I have no idea why the land wasn't usable for so long.

Joe we lost 16 square miles of our place to a fire 5 years ago and it took at least 3 years for the ground cover to come back 100%. Cedars, Hackberrys and Mesquites will take many more years.
