Sen. Jim Inhofe: GOP candidate Marco Rubio is 'one that I really do like'
TulsaWorld ^ | 1/1/16 | R.Brankiel

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe said this week he isn't ready to endorse anyone for the Republican presidential nomination, but he described Florida’s Marco Rubio as "one that I really do like."

"The reason I say that is he's so knowledgeable," Inhofe said. "I'd love to see him in a debate with Hillary (Clinton) just for my own personal entertainment."

Rubio is running third to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz in most national polling, but he is favored by many traditional Republicans. In Oklahoma, he has the endorsements of several legislators as well as Oklahoma City energy tycoon Larry Nichols and 2nd District Congressman Markwayne Mullin.

Rubio has yet to campaign in Oklahoma, and Inhofe acknowledged Wednesday that Rubio "hasn't moved as much as he should have" nationally, but was otherwise complimentary.

Inhofe's warm words for Rubio came as some conservatives criticized his vote for the omnibus funding bill Congress passed two weeks ago. Inhofe says the agreement included Democratic concessions on at least 10 key issues, but critics say congressional Republicans weren't aggressive enough in negotiations.

Among those most vocally opposed to the bill was Cruz, who counts 1st District Congressman Jim Bridenstine,— the only member of the Oklahoma delegation to vote against the omnibus, among his closest allies.

Cruz campaigned in Tulsa and Oklahoma City last week and has devoted more attention to the state than any other GOP candidate.

In addition to Rubio, Inhofe lent some support to Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who remains in the race for the GOP nomination but continues to poll in the single digits.

"I was in a Bible study with him for eight years and know him intimately," Inhofe said. "For some reason, there’s something about him that just hasn't sold. If you look at all the governors and former governors in the field, he's done far more than any of the others. And besides, he’s from Ohio."

Ohio is among the handful of swing states that generally decide presidential elections.

FOURTY years, but *not* an ‘insider’? What was he when he was, briefly, at best, in the public sector?

In 40 yrs, what has he hammered, year in/out, that restores our Replubic, our Liberty, etc.? Sell-out in D.C. is one whom doesn’t rock-the-boat.

No offense, but *this* would be why nothing changes in D.C. “It’s not MY critter that’s a problem; it’s YOUR critter...”

He’s talking about Kasich, not Rubio.

You don’t have a clue about what his record is. I provided a link to a search of Inhofe and amnesty. Did you read it?

Inhofe has been a good Senator. I vote against candidates not for but in Inhofe’s races he has been the best running. I don’t have to apologize for that. And I don’t have to have your approval to support any candidate I choose.

It’s getting more and more like the French Revolution around here and that’s not a good thing.

You won’t answer the questions—

Did he vote for Obama’s Omnibus Budget? Yes/No?

Did he just voice support for Rubio— Mr Schumer Gang of Eight amnesty— Yes/No?

And if you can’t, or prefer not to answer the questions, don’t point fingers at me-— look in the mirror and ask yourself why you won’t address the questions.

Inhofe is far from the typical RINO, but you are right about term limits. His conservative bent, always gave in to GOPe leadership when push came to shove.

Not liked by the GOPe, but useful to them. Not a good epithet.

Anyone expecting perfection from a politician is a fool. If you think your Senators are perfect that makes you a fool.

Inhofe can support anyone he wants and it doesn’t change how he has represented Oklahoma since his election to the Senate in the nineties. He has been a damn sight better than any of the democrats that ran. All in all he has represented us well.

You are kidding, right ? How many years has he been cooling his heels inside the Beltway? He only goes “home” to OK to get reflected. He is 100% GOP Establishment.

Would you prefer Boren or James Jones or Carson or one of the Edmondsons or Sinar? Get real, Man. We’ve only had four good Senators in Oklahoma in my lifetime: Dewey Bartlett, Don Nickels, Tom Coburn and Jim Inhofe. They have basically voted right. (It’s too soon to tell with the new man Lankford but he may be okay.)

The point being when Inhofe, Nickels and Bartlett first started in politics there weren’t any Republicans in Oklahoma. They were the ones that built the party. To say Inhofe is a RINO is absurd.

An real RINO is Donald Trump.

Where do you live? Is he your Senator? Do you know anything about his flying home on weekends? Do you know anything at all? I doubt that you do.

If you think your Senators are perfect that makes you a fool.

**************

Did your guy just vote for Obama’s budget, funding Obamacare, executive amnesty, planned parenthood, Iranian nuclear deal, quadrupling of H-2B, the Green Climate Fund, DACA, sanctuary cities, illegal alien and refugee resettlement, welfare for illegals????????????

Answer— YES

Now, you want to insult me- call me a fool— be my guest. I don’t gauge my worth by the opinion of someone who resorts to invective when confronted with a truth he chooses to avoid.

But, that notwithstanding, it will never change the facts: Inhofe voted with Obama and the Dems for a socialist agenda— and now supports Mr. Schumer/Rubio amnesty. He’s a rank insider and sellout.

If you think that “represents you will” - good on you.
