A fire at a Houston mosque, resulting in "significant" damage, was declared an arson, authorities said Saturday.
The blaze erupted on Christmas Day around 2:45 p.m. in the house of worship on South Wilcrest Drive, according to the Houston Fire Department.
"Through the on-going investigation by the joint- investigative team...the investigation classification has been upgraded to INCENDIARY," the statement said.
No one was injured in the fire, which lasted about 40 minutes, the department said.
The case was under investigation by the Houston Arson Bureau.
"Because of the recent spike in hate incidents targeting mosques nationwide, we urge law enforcement authorities to investigate a possible bias motive for this fire," said Mustafaa Carroll, the Houston Executive Director of the organization Council on American-Islamic Relations.

What "spike"? If anything there have been a few minor incidents which also are likely to be false flags!

We sure do have some incompetent arsonists if nobody is ever hurt and the damage is minimal in every one of these instances.
Of course, none of us will be surprised to find out that it was a Muslim who set the fire. Victimology is one of the tenets of Islam.

I would be interested in seeing how many churches were vandalized in the same period.

If it was an inside job, the perps will be caught and convicted. If it was someone from the outside, they will be caught and sent to prison too.
I don’t recall much outrage (or press coverage) about the churches in northern Africa set on fire last Christmas with dozens of worshipers inside.
This was a red flag incident by the Muzzies to get sympathy IMHO.
