The Left *must* always feel superior to the masses, the bourgeois. To do so, they have a need to constantly show their superiority by championing THE CAUSE. The cause is whatever your average walking around normal person would consider to be abnormal. The Left then has a topic which with to hammer the masses and enforce the Left’s idea of being above the masses.

Unfortunately, once the masses cave to whatever is the cause-de-jure, the Left has to ratchet up to the next cause, no matter how absurd or destructive to the society.

I think of the left as being children throwing tantrums. If you give in to such children, they will only increase their demands. They will keep pushing the limits, and if you don't show limits, they just keep pushing them.

Unfortunately, society has allowed these spoiled children to have everything they whine for. And, just like children, the leftists are unhappy with getting everything they threw tantrums over because, like children, they really want someone to impose limits.

It really is okay for society to say, "No, your demand is unreasonable, and we aren't giving it to you." And to stick with it, no matter how many times the leftists whine about it.

Another factor is that those who feel guilt over their perversions want to force everyone else to accept it as normal in order to ease their guilt and shore up their self-esteem.
