>>I find my logic is sound and I don’t know why conservatives keep voting for the Lesser Of Two Evils. Possibly normalcy bias.<<

Eschewing the elections in a fit of pique sure worked out in 2008 and 2012!

Once the primaries are over, they are over. Having a tantrum b/c the selected candidate doesn’t meet a mythical “conservative test” that even Reagan could not pass just will get us President hillary.

I don’t think anybody would say that about Webb’s daughter either.

Voting the lesser of two evils sure worked out in 2010 and 2014. If whoever-didn’t-vote turned out in 08 McCain might be president. Whoopie! If they would have shown up in 12, Romney would be president. So what are you trying to say?

“I know that Trump supporters will not be swayed by any reason.”

Fair point.

Also works in reverse.

But here is the problem, in my opinion. It is still going along to get along. It is still playing ball. It is still everything we hate about establishment politicians and what they do. Indeed, Donald Trump has been establishment for most of his life. I am not convinced that it is the price of doing business. It may be the price of being a billionaire instead of a millionaire. But not every business owner or entrepreneur or maybe even CEO does this. You can operate under the radar and just not make yourself a target and be successful and come out fine in many cases. But you know Washington DC itself is of course owned. It is owned Best put why the globalists. I happene to believe Donald Trump has done business with these people. But even aside from that these people have owned pretty much every president no matter what that person’s intentions and beliefs were. The fact that Donald Trump, if elected, is worth billions doesn’t really matter at that point. The fact that he can negotiate does matter but it is a whole different world to go from asking how much to cut the check for and negotiating buildings to foreign and domestic policy.I won’t say he can’t do it. I am merely saying that the attitudes, agendas, and stakes are different. But this whole notion of Trump can’t be bought or owned because he is a billionaire, I don’t buy it. He is as human as the rest of us, and Trump happens to be, IMO, a human who at times has shown severely flawed judgment.

The bad of obozo was worse than any good by taking the House and Senate.

I am not trying to day anything: I am saying people who stayed home gave us obozo and may well give us hitlery.

And McCain or Romney would have been a million times better than obozo.

You are missing something. Trump is not getting away with saying things because he is rich, he is ABLE to say what he thinks because he has no one to answer to..I find that refreshing..and no, I am not a Trump supporter, but I do enjoy watching him call a spade a spade.

Why? We already have Cruz. If conservatives will actually support a conservative, we'll win.

I heave heard this meme in every election cycle since RR's last 1984-88. Someone like Ted Cruz is not electable in the general election. We are being setup by the lefties once again into committing Hari Kari by being talked into nominating a guy like Cruz. We are a right of center country not a right of right country. Our own echo chamber here does no bely the fact that Hillary Clinton would wipe the floor with Cruz, a 1996 style azz whooping. We can call our fellow countrymen idiots and dolts but they vote. Presidential politics is a beauty contest and Trump right now is Miss America, he has a populist appeal, real crossover potential and would do and say what needed to be done to destroy HRC and generate a 40 state blowout. I personally like Cruz's politics but being a pragmatist I'd elect Trump all day over HRC and I suspect about 53% of my fellow Americans would also. This election about winning not ideological purity. Been there done that and wound up with Obama.

I hear you but disagree.

In Wash DC you simply can’t play both sides of the aisle if you are in business, big business.

I said “business,” not politics, and even in politics there are times compromise is done. Too often the GOPe capitulates, whereas I am reasonably confident Trump will fight unless he see’s value in compromise, in other words, in my view, he will fight and force the democRATS to move rightward and then Trump will choose when to compromise (act politically), as opposed to the GOPe running constantly leftward and calling it compromise.

The establishment on both sides do not like Trump and seethe with anger at the support he is getting. That is very telling, is it not?

IMHO, of course.

I’m not talking about calling Jeb stupid and Clinton a rapist. I’m talking about calling Scalia a racist and saying his daughter is hot.

When the heck did we nominate a guy like Cruz? Are you aware that Cruz does better against Hillary than Trump in some polls?

Pragmatism: a philosophical tradition that began in the United States around 1870. Pragmatism rejects the idea that the function of thought is to describe, represent, or mirror reality. Instead, pragmatists consider thought an instrument or tool for prediction, problem solving and action. Pragmatists contend that most philosophical topics—such as the nature of knowledge, language, concepts, meaning, belief, and science—are all best viewed in terms of their practical uses and successes.

Pragmatism is not a virtue, it’s a philosophical fallacy leading to dissonance in those who try to hold onto objective realities. Like every philosophy that reject the existence of reality, pragmatism is wrong and will lead you to wrong conclusions. It’s wrong to think that Cruz can’t win, or that Trump is a better candidate based on the left’s rubric.

...and I wouldn’t have anything to stand on if not for the fact that practicing pragmatism has led us into where we are now: a country that’s a steaming pile of crap with no meaningful representation. None, that is, except a few reps and senators (one of which is running for president).

It might be telling. But then, I can’t shake the feeling that this could be the most well orchestrated troll job we have seen against the American people. I hope if he is elected that I am wrong.

Good that he is getting ahead of the game on this.

If Trump is the nominee, Hillary will certainly peg the “war on women” label on him. Good for Trump to remind people the her husband seduced and insecure, pudgy intern into providing sexual favors, exposed himself to another government worker and raped a grieving widow. Now that is what a war on women looks like!
