I know that in Germany, portions of the tax money collected are doled out to the various religions. I’d think that this is proportionate to the number of ‘parishioners’. It may be that Sweden also does this.

History repeats. Every great upheaval in civilized history came as a result of world leaders losing their minds. Today they want gay/muslim rule. And the population does not.

Actually, in a way that’s already done here if you count churches’ properties being tax exempt in some way.
For example, and I don’t know how this is handled, but when a church operates a day-care center. Does it pay taxes? Or do they claim it’s a religious-education or something.
But I do remember years ago when my wife worked in Germany and I looked at one of her paychecks. They took and ungodly amount and one category was for ‘church’ deductions.

A very rational course of action.
It doesn't look like churches in Sweden are financed through voluntary donations. This from Wikepedia:
"Sweden: The members of Church of Sweden pay church fee, which varies between municipalities, but can be as much as 2%. Church and state are separated as of 2000, however the burial tax (begravningsavgift) is paid by everyone regardless of membership."
"In a recent development, the Swedish government has agreed to continue collecting from individual taxpayers the annual payment that has always gone to the church. But now the fee will be an optional checkoff box on the tax return. The government will allocate the money collected to Catholic, Muslim, Jewish and other faiths as well as the Lutherans, with each taxpayer directing where his or her taxes should go."
It sounds like this would motivate clergy to discourage anyone from ever attending church. Much less work, for the same pay.
