Jeb Bush loses the copyright to 'Jeb!'

It is a sad day indeed for exclamation mark proponents — Jeb Bush is apparently dropping the high-energy punctuation mark from his brand.

According to Mother Jones, Bush trademarked "Jeb!" last winter under the name of BHAG LLC.

Trump should swoop down and buy the copyright just like he bought Jeb’s website. Just for the hellibut.

A trademark doesn’t have to be registered in order to be a trademark. In this case i think the Bush campaign on its own decided to drop the exclamation point from “Jeb!” And just go with “Jeb.” Since the application to register the trade mark was for “Jeb!” I guessing the process was abandoned as a waste of time and effort. Most candidates don’t bother registering their campaign trademarks because it’s a distraction in enforcing the exclusivity. It’s nice to be able to collect money pushing your brand but why complain if your brand is appearing on all sorts of things. It’s free publicity.
