Internet hug coming your way!

Went to the range in the past week with a family friend from Seattle area. She’s never fired a gun before and her husband is a firm lib; dislikes guns etc. Under instruction, she fired pistols and revolvers, and did very well with instructions, safety rules, etc. She was impressed with the orderliness and safety focus of the shooters and the range. Said it totally changed the way she thinks of guns and gun owners. She’s hooked and said what made her want to try it was her fear of the transformation of the country and she is not confident in the govts abillity to keep us safe.
Or all of the alcohol ads we’re about to see this week?
Let’s keep this thread alive. The AR15 platform is the Holy Grail of American guns. All effort should be made to keep it free and legal. It is simply the best home defense weapon available against multiple home attackers. Long live the AR15.
Pretty good deal on the smokers too!
I recently did the same with a very Liberal professor friend. He never understood why people were allowed to have their own military type firearms and especially "assault rifles" with huge clips that shoot lots of nasty bullets.
Anyhow, he enjoyed going to the range and took instruction well and seriously. It also gave us a lot of time to talk generally about guns and the 2nd Amendment. He met nice, normal, helpful people there too which I think surprised him. Now he understands much better about the "gun culture" and that those in it are not all snaggle-toothed monsters. Although still not an enthusiast, he feels much better about it and has even become somewhat of a supporter.
Sometimes I think people are against guns because they simply don't have any familiarity with them so are afraid of them. Consequently, they think other people shouldn't own them. They fall easily for the propaganda of the anti-gunners because it exploits their fears and ignorance. Making them familiar with gun safety and letting them handle and shoot actual "scary" firearms seems to really go a long way toward calming their life-long anxieties and ignorance and winning them over. They see they can do it and it is actually fun so it is not so threatening any more. It certainly gives you time for reasoned and friendly discussion and opens the door for more.
Good luck with your BIL!
Man I love Cabelas! I’m heading there today!
Yeah no kidding!
Next month a gun-oriented Home Shopping Network starts up on cable/satellite.
Watch the libs TOTALLY LOSE IT on that, as they see 30 minute long infomercials describing the beautiful, refined, touches on our latest firearms.
That will be fun!
Actually, an AR for under $600 is a really good deal. You can’t build them yourself for less than that.

I know a retired Marine sergeant who works in a gun shop. He always tells prospective buyers, “Shooting an AR-15 is the most fun a grown man can have with his clothes on.”
BTTT
The great converter, it works almost every time. I've always thought that if you remove the mystery, reality becomes clear to them. For the more rabid anti's, I try make sure to have a couple of "assault weapons" for them to shoot and compare to the 25-06 or another high-pressure cartridge. It becomes pretty clear to them that the "assault weapon" is pretty tame.
I've had a couple who still walked away with a forced smug look, but their inner self knows they've been had. For me, it's usually visiting family members, but I think it's important to expose anyone I can to the sport of shooting. When the gun is no longer an ideology and becomes a real, physical object (and It doesn't jump up and start killing everyone), reality sets in.

Pappy molds his own bullets on the kitchen table for just
about free!
The PMC .223 Remington @ $6.29/box (Cabelas price) of 20 rounds is actually lower than it was just before Sandy Hook. I was in the Hamburg, PA store in early December 2012 and they had this ammo on skids near the checkout for $6.49/box.
I just wish Cabela’s carried 6.8 SPC PRI mags.
Meh. I don’t like the M&P 15 Sport because they delete the dust cover and forward assist, and neither of those parts really save much money. They could have charged the same amount and included those two features.
Please make sure you understand that my example was purposely fictitious and meant to make him bite.
Only nitwits think we should be sensitive to whatever emotional distress there may be somewhere in the world.
Especially if it can be contrived to advance so-called progressivism.
If you truly were so hypersensitive all the time you’d be either emotionally paralyzed or a progressive busybody jerk or both ... Oh, wait ... “nitwit” by other names....
