Women are paying thousands of dollars more over the course of their lives than men to purchase similar products, according to a study of the gender pricing of goods in New York City, which revealed widespread gender-based pricing disparities.
Comparing nearly 800 products with clear male and female versions from more than 90 brands sold in store and online, NYC's Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) which carried out the study into gender pricing, found that the women's version of products cost more than men's.
[Snip]
The DCA found that, on average and across five industries, women's products cost 7 percent more than similar products for men. Specifically:
- 7 percent more for toys and accessories
- 4 percent more for children's clothing
- 8 percent more for adult clothing
- 13 percent more for personal care products
- 8 percent more for senior/home health care products

Women are pickier than men. Their products/ apparel have to be more exacting than men’s.
Take haircuts. A man may think the barber took off took much but what the heck, it’ll grow out. Comb it in the morning and you’re good for the day.
A woman would be apoplectic .Stand in front of the mirror again and again.
Same with shoes, shirts/blouses, pants/slacks. On and on.
Women require higher standards.

7 teen daughters.
When one of them moves out and gets married, our home is relieved a burden of about $350/month.
We miss them. I thank our sons in law.

Amen! I once dated a guy who would complain I couldn't walk out the door on a minutes notice. I said, "Ok. I'll cut my hair." Of course, he only dated women with long hair. He wanted a woman to look like a model but was bewildered by the time and expense.

SHOE SALE! Aww, but they're on sale... You won't believe how much I'll save!
Translation: women/liberals are compulsive, emotionally manipulatable, and need the counterbalance of a protective man.

The other item proportionately overpriced are childrenâs clothes. Only for the imprudent.
Only Nana pays retail for my daughter's clothes. We buy brand name, new stuff, on e-bay, then sell it again when she out grows it.
We hardly notice the expense.
Of course, my wife is a diligent bargain hunter.

There is only the spouse and me, no kids ever and there is enough stuff in my domicile to meet or beat yours.
Since I’m not consulted on tons of meaningless and wasteful purchases, I buy what I want.
I have a small collection of project vehicles. I’ve gotten a little grief over but I’m keeping them.
Tons of little things versus a few big things that live mostly off site is the justification for me.

It’s funny, my wife thinks nothing of dropping $150+ for her monthly trip to the beauty salon. God forbid I spend $30 for the MVP at SportClips. lol

That’s why some of us get even by making the guy pay for the date.

I've heard that refrain a lot from wives, but when you talk to their husbands it's the lack of planning for known engagements, and languid approach to getting ready that really gets under their skin.
How that gets conflated into "ready at a moment's notice" I'll never know.
