My college cafeteria never had Vietnamese sandwiches but I discovered them a year after graduation on my own. They’ve become much much bigger since then. Price hasn’t gone up a lot in several decades.

My college cafeteria had food that looked like it had crawled all the way from Vietnam to the dining hall ...

I remember an Asian carryout in the D.C. 'burbs 25 or 30 years ago. Don't know whether it was Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, or a combo joint. They had a sammich they made that I loved: it was marinated grilled chicken (or advertised as such; could have been whatever was found rummaging in the dumpster), a whole slice of cucumber, thinly sliced lengthwise, and peanut sauce, on a French baguette roll. Anyone care to identify the particular origin? All I know was, it was the most deliciously unusual sandwich I ever had.
