Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Friday warned Republican voters to steer clear of nominating Tea Party candidates who can't win in next yearâs general election.
"The way you have a good election year is to nominate people who can win," he told reporters during his final Capitol Hill press conference of 2015.
He urged Republican primary voters to avoid the mistakes of the past, mentioning several Tea Party candidates who went down in flames in recent Senate elections. "What we did in 2014 was we didnât have more Christine OâDonnellâs, Sharron Angles, Richard Mourdocks or Todd Akins. The people that were nominated [last year] were electable," he said of the last midterm cycle.

They were candidates "who can win" too.
Except they didn't.
What Mitch means is, "we need to nominate candidates who, IF THEY WIN, will vote for ME for majority leader"
Because remember, Mitch was against candidates "who could win" like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, etc.
I would rather lose the Senate than see McConnell return as the majority leader.
What difference does it make really? We have both the house and senate and still vote for whatever Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi want.
We need representatives who will live up to their campaign promises.
I say Vote Democrat- The Rapture will get here quicker.
What good is winning when y’all act just like democrats? Bite me, Mitchy.
Drop dead McConnell. And the sooner the better you Traitorous Bastard.
You and Ryan are no better than Obama! RINOs need to be purged or this Republican Party needs to cease to exist.
No money at all for the RNC and make the lives of the politicians that vote for stuff like this budget a living Hell!!!
I think I am going to throw up.
Well, we better hold our noses then. Establishment Republicans know what’s best for us. < /S >
“The way you have a good election year is to nominate people who can win,”
And then join Mitch to vote with the Democrats.
Like Eric Cantor?
He suggests Jebbie or Mitt.
And we want candidates who will govern and represent their constituents instead of themselves.
It’s an impasse until the republicrats like Mitch are involuntarily retired.
Who does he mean? Bush? Kasich? Christie? Carley? Hell, why not Romney?
Is it too late to resurrect Dole?
Shut it treasonous turtle.
We need candidates who, if they do win, make enough of a difference that it can be detected without using sensitive scientific instruments.
