A week after Gov. Bruce Rauner signed stopgap legislation to resume payouts for Lottery winners – most of which had been halted due to the state’s budget impasse – a group of community leaders bought Powerball and scratch-off tickets on Monday.

I hope they win big and have to pay taxes on the winnings.

Better to support fiscal conservatives with the money...

There is a reason a lot of Poor Idiots play the lottery with their non EBT card money.

Even if they win it has been proven the end result is usually worse than if they had not won at all.

Democrats cannot manage their own damned money let alone someone else’s.

“The lottery is a wonderful thing; it lays the taxation only on the willing” - Thomas Jefferson

“The lottery is a tax on ignorance, and all the losers that play the game are paying the price for their stupidity.” - Neal Boortz

“Lottery: A tax on people that are bad at math.” - Ambrose Bierce

These would-be do-gooders are so stupid they don’t realize that giving their money directly to the State treasury would provide more money to their cause. Best case is that 40- or 50-cents of every dollar spent on a lottery ticket will come back as winnings, then be taxed (going into general funds), with some lesser amount making it to their precious cause. Stupid liberals (but I repeat myself).

What do you want to bet that if one of them actually wins, that they’ll claim the money through a straw and avoid paying it back.

Let me see if I understand this....
Some lib activists purchase some Illinois Lottery tickets and pledge to donate any winnings to the state which can’t afford to pay out the lotto winnings. Yeah.. makes sense. Now I know how Common Core math came into being.
