Limbaugh Denies He 'Turned On' Trump After Criticizing His Attack on Cruz

Rush Limbaugh today criticized Donald Trump for his attacks on Ted Cruz, but upon being informed the media thinks he turned on Cruz, Limbaugh insisted he did no such thing.

In case you missed it, after Trump called Cruz a "mania" yesterday who can't get anything done in Congress, Limbaugh today criticized him for echoing the establishment. He said, "Any of you who are holding out hope that Trump is a genuine conservative... a genuine conservative would not go after Cruz this way."

Well, during his show, Limbaugh founds out the media already picked up his criticism. He clarified, "I haven’t turned on anybody. I haven't thrown anybody away. I haven't announced support for anybody."

He insisted he was just disappointed and asking a question about Trump's attack on Cruz "because it sounded like the same kind of criticism we would get from the establishment Republicans."

Limbaugh did muse over whether Trump would turn on him next, but figured it wouldn't happen.

For what it's worth, Limbaugh wasn't nearly as restrained in his criticism as Mark Levin was later in the day.

Poor Donald.... as I said long ago, when it gets down to Donald and Ted,, it’s going to be like Cruise and Nicholson in “A Few Good Men” -— will just wait for Donald to blow.

I think you may be a little ahead of yourself there cowboy. You mouth is writing checks cruz will never be able to cash.

Cruz first accused Trump of bad judgment and temperament.

Trump then merely mirrored the accusation back, accusing Cruz of a poor temperament and judgment for the presidency.

“Trump is not Donald McCain.

I know John McCain’s record, and if Rush wants to take Trump to task for doing something he didn’t care for, he should be specific and on point.

John McCain is one of America’s most despicable citizens.

I would reserve this insult for people like Jane Fonda, George Soros, Obama, or some of the slimiest Democrats.”

I quite agree. Rush Bush should be more careful. What goes around, after all.

Exactly! Now the two of them are over it and have STFU about it but Levin and Rush are getting the vapors over it.

I think that is exactly what happened.

Apparently Rush was very much quoting the story “from Cruz’s standpoint” if you will, originally.

Unfortunately for Rush, there were two sides to the story, and actually it was Cruz who started the disagreement.

Cruz started it. Now what he said wasn’t outright nasty or anything, he was actually pretty level-headed but he did speak first so Trump responded.

Trump doesn’t start these things.

Rush didn’t know the whole story, and should have researched it more, before commenting this morning.

Just saying.

“Champion debater Cruz always laid traps for his opponents, they never knew what was coming— only that IT was coming. -:)”

Can you link me to one of Cruz’s debates or the “traps” he’s laid for his opponents in the past?

Criticizing Trump on what he said is fair game. So now Trump is batting 997% still tops in the league. These three missteps, however bad don’t shake my support for Trump one bit.

And Rush should have. My family and I have been very strong supporters of Donald Trump, but his leftist attacks over the weekend have made us rethink our support. Ted Cruz has been one of the few, fighting the establishment, and didn’t deserve Trump’s depiction of him. Right now, we don’t know who we are going to vote for anymore. And were sick about it.

“Exactly! Now the two of them are over it and have STFU about it but Levin and Rush are getting the vapors over it.”

In those three or four instances when the chips were really, really down, when it was time for a landmark change that would require decision, fortitude and something bold and innovative... When did either of them NOT just sigh in resignation and continue to carry water for the Republican establishment?

I like and respect both Donald and Ben. I do not believe either one is going to be our nominee. I don’t believe either one is going to be our president. I think both of them, their campaigns have a natural arc. And with both of them I think gravity is pulling them down... Carson is further in that descent. You look at Paris, you look at San Bernardino, it’s given a seriousness to this race, that people are looking for: Who is prepared to be a commander in chief? Who understands the threats we face? Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now that’s a question of strength, but it’s also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them. So my approach, much to the frustration of the media has been to bear hug both of them, and smother them with love. People run as who they are. I believe gravity will bring both of those campaigns down, I think the lion’s share of their supporters come to us.

What Limbaugh and Levin are ignoring is that babysitting Cruz and protecting him from Trump will not work if Cruz happens to get the nomination. Trump was very gentle, the Media and the Democrats wouldn’t be.

If Cruz can’t take it, he needs to hang it up.

You’re right. It won’t change much of anyone’s positions over this. People are keeping their eye on the big issues of the day.

He reported facts. Nothing more.

He reported some of the facts. He forgot to mention that Trump was responding to Cruz's disparaging remarks made in a secret meeting with some of Cruz;'s big donors. Trump was responding to things said three or four days earlier.

But he added, Quote You look at Paris, you look at San Bernardino, its given a seriousness to this race, that people are looking for: Who is prepared to be a commander in chief? Who understands the threats we face?Unquote

He went on: Quote Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now thats a question of strength, but its also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them.Unquote

Ted Cruz Questions Donald Trumps Judgment to Be President

The old, can you trust this nut with his finger on the nuclear button slur.

Brings back memories of the Daisy commercial from 1964:

LBJ vs. Goldwater

Ted borrowing from LBJ and a long string of leftists. And Rush did a very poor job of putting the story in context. The same for Hannity and Levin.
