Authorities discovered a pipe bomb in a residential neighborhood in Anaheim Friday night, police said. Police received a call about a suspicious device around 10:15 p.m. in the 300 block of Claudina Street, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
When officers arrived, they noticed a makeshift pipe bomb with explosives inside, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene and rendered the device safe, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

I keep some cash at home. I determined if there were to be a fire my cash would be destroyed. I took a 6” length of 2” pipe nipple and attached caps on both ends to hold the cash. I guess this is an improvised pipe bomb.
Hmmm. We are at the northeastern most corner of anaheim and there is a huge Islamic Center just across the 91 from us. I believe there are lots of Muslims in my hood, just guessing. I sure would like to know if these mosques are just houses of worship...
Just looked it up. You are right. Their main HQ is of course in DC, but they have 4 CAIR offices in CA and the one for the LA area is right there on, of all things, Crescent Ave in Anaheim.

No, the problem with plastic pipe is that it will split before the explosive builds up much pressure. The point of an iron or steel pipe is to "hold the explosion together" until it builds up to a high level of pressure.
This of course is true only for gunpowder bombs that deflagrate instead of detonate. Explosives that detonate, like C-4, don't need to be confined. However, they should be tamped, as with a sandbag, if possible, as this directs the blast in the desired direction.
Yep. Probably a decade ago, I noticed that a lot of their mouthpieces came out of that location. Ironically, you’re probably safer because of it. At least, that’s how I see it.
I remember the good old days when we ran around on our Schwinn Stingrays (no Helmets) with M-80’s, Ash Cans, Firecrackers and Cherry Bombs.
Nobody gave a darn. Nowadays, we would be on the 6 O’clock News, accused of being Pint Size Terrorists.
