Thursday on “CBS This Morning†while discussing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump hinting at a third-party run, Peggy Noonan, a former speech writer for President Ronald Reagan and weekly columnist for The Wall Street Journal, said the Republican Party is in a “delicate†position because they can’t afford to ostracize Trump’s supporters.

Not a huge Trump fan, but certainly he’s surely got to be more appealing to the voters than Shrillery! or Sandiz.
They would say the same about Reagan today. Or Washington for that matter.
But Yeb said he could win the nomination without the conservative base. That job of already ostracizing the base is on Yeb.

I disagree with the first assertion but agree with the second. If the GOP pulls something crazy during the nominating convention and doesn’t give it to Trump, they’re going to lose in a landslide to a split ticket.
How can he possibly win? Nobody supports him except the voters.
Sad thing is, GOP would rather lose to Hillary than allow Trump to win.

But, the Trump supporters seem to extend far beyond just conservatives. They may be a big faction of what could be called the Reagan Democrats.
Noonan wrote good stuff when she used Reagan’s brain. Without him, she’s an airhead.
