Jersey City (United States) (AFP) - Muslim Americans are pleading with Donald Trump to stop encouraging violence in demanding a "complete" halt to Muslim immigration after a New York shopkeeper was beaten in a possible hate crime.

Republican presidential frontrunner Trump's inflammatory call is part of what activists have described as an unprecedented anti-Muslim backlash following the Paris attacks and the shooting in California by a couple believed to have turned extremist.

"He's giving the right to people to hurt us," said Ahmed Shedeed, who moved to the United States from Egypt in 1980 with a degree in agricultural engineering and today runs a travel agency.

Also director of The Islamic Center of Jersey City, he spoke to AFP at a mosque, accusing Trump of provoking hate and violence.

"I'm asking him, I'm begging him. It has to stop -- all these accusations. Look at the Muslim community as part of the American mosaic and we are part of America. We are not going anywhere."

Muslim Americans say they are afraid. They talk about women wearing the hijab being spat on, a Muslim taxi driver being shot in the back on Thanksgiving and a pig's head found outside a Philadelphia mosque.

Just hours before the Republican frontrunner's call for an end to Muslim immigration, community leaders from New Jersey met prosecutors asking them to take seriously alleged hate crimes against Muslims.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil liberties group in the country, says it has documented a wave of abuse, vandalism and acts of discrimination in the last month.

"It is reckless and simply un-American. Donald Trump sounds more like a leader of a lynch mob than a great nation like ours," CAIR executive director Nihad Awad told a news conference in Washington, DC.

The spread of Islam has left a trail of blood, suffering, and destruction like no other ideology in world history. History, and even this present age, shows us that Islam is a very violent and fascist religion, full of hate for Christians and Jews. No one could invent a more evil cult.

Then why have CAIR or insist on pushing Sharia Law over the American Judaeo-Christian &Constitutional Laws....America's freedom is abused by Muslims from honor killings, female mutilation, no tolerance for other religions and that's just starters for their constant demands for us to change to suit them. This is rich, coming from CAIR, whose parent organization is the Muslim Brotherhood - recognized as a terrorist organization in many countries but basically in charge of our national security under the Foreign Enemy Combatant In Chief.

If refusing entrance is inviting violence then maybe some mosques should be checked to see if they are inciting violence by not allowing unveiled women, non-Muslims, Jews, etc...

Oh yeah that was another thing - with regards to Trumps claim of them celebrating - I had a few tell me to my face the US deserved 911 after they knew me for a while and I played along with their crap. They hide their true beliefs, so it doesn’t take a genius to know not only were they celebrating in Jersey but pretty much every place. This is the crap we’re letting into the country. The USA is simply something they use because Islam has messed up their country so bad. They could give a damn about this country. The first question that should be asked of any Muslim - and also of CAIR - is why anybody should believe a word that comes out of the mouth of someone whose religion allows/commands lying if it benefits the murderous goals of that religion.

Those who want us to believe them should switch to a religion that considers bearing false testimony a sin. And anyone who believes it to be a sin should have a really hard time accepting a “prophet” who tells them to do it.

Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing “25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad” and 51% of those polled, “agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah.” Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.
