Now its a capital crime for an 8 year old to walk to school alone?
I did that when I was 8 years old.

It amazes me that people aren’t out in front of courthouses & city councils with pitchforks & tar & feathers. This is just insane.

I walked alone every day of my life from elementary school to high school. This is nonsense.

Apparently Reason is falling short of its goal and requires lots of scripts to get past the splash screen announcing its failure.

Yup, the police, child services & the DA are f*ckin’ idiots.
They need to be tossed in the slammer for ten years.
Serves ‘em right.

That happened to me once when my son was in the third grade. My wife was away and I was taking care of him. He didn’t want to wake me up, so he had pop tarts and went to school. They thought it was odd that we would let him go to school barefoot. California kid. Never wore shoes if he could help it. I was obviously embarrassed and have no excuse. So, I know from personal experience it can happen.

This is the result of we the people allowing the liberal’s influence our government at all levels. It isn’t the children walking to school we have to worry about. It’s the liberals walking to government.

Letting children walk to school alone would give them street smarts, and the government needs us street stupid so they can extort us easier.

She’s white, right? This would never happen to the mothers whose children are unattended, walking to school or otherwise.
To: rockinqsranch
Its liberals second-guessing our decisions or lack of them, that’s dangerous.
This is nowhere close to child abuse - of course, if the kid was truant, that’s also reason to take their parent away from them.
We live in a nation with low-IQ morons.

...
I rode my bike to elementary school, which was my favorite part of school along with PE and lunch. My mom stayed at home smoking cigarettes and watching soap operas.

Good grief! We walked to school, often alone, then home for lunch, then back again, then home at the end of the day. Started in Kindergarten (although usually with older siblings or neighbours at that age), but once in Grade 1 or 2, often walked alone.
Having said that, I doubt I would have let my kids do it when they were young. Different world.
To: Twotone
So the punishment for leaving a kid alone for a few hours is leaving the kid motherless for 10 years?
To: Twotone
So the liberals complain about breaking up families should illegals be deported. So here we have the same result, where are these bleeding heart liberals supporting a woman who committed no crime and is legal? Where are they?

Yup.
As if the kid would be scarred for life without parental accompaniment.
We won’t have our parents around forever. We need to toughen up and get game.
Except to idiot cops and nervous nelly liberals who ought to know better.
