Iraqi President Fouad Massoum on Saturday called the deployment of several hundred Turkish troops inside Iraq near the northern city of Mosul "a violation of international norms and law".

A Turkish security source said on Friday the forces would provide training for Iraqi troops near Mosul, which is controlled by Islamic State.

Iraq's prime minister and foreign ministry have called for Turkey to withdraw its forces.

They are not in Iraq. Iraq gave that ground to ISIS without a fight. They’re their helping the Kurds defeat ISIS. Which is confusing.

Looks like things are moving toward a merry party in the mid-East.

Fun things developing in the Pacific too.

Turkey just wants to be the ones who run the caliphate.

I’ve said it before; there are no good guys in the Middle East. There are bad guys and worse guys.

“...A small number of Turkish trainers was already at the camp to train a force called Hashid Watani (national mobilization), which is made up of mainly Sunni Arab former Iraqi police and volunteers from Mosul....

...the move is not part of the U.S.-led coalition’s activities, according to defense officials in Washington.

... Turkey has in recent months been bombing Kurdish militant positions in northern Iraq.”

I guess the Islamist Turks must want to have an Arab Sunni force available in northern Iraq to help prevent the Kurds from taking part of Mosul from ISIS.

While it would be barbaric, I sometimes think that de-populating the Middle East and starting over with colonialism wouldn’t be a bad idea. Just take the oil. But make sure their are no natives around to complain about it.

That certainly conforms with everything I know about Erdogan, except helping the Kurds? Bilmiyorum.

This report is on Turks actually IN northern Iraq. The Turks have been doing next to nothing to fight ISIS (actually they’ve been helping them in various ways IMHO) and have concentrated on bombing the Kurds who have been fighting ISIS in both northern Iraq and Syria.

THE TURKS ARE NOT OUR FRIENDS AND THEY ARE NOT GOOD GUYS.

Turkey despises the Kurds and bombs them regularly. Where do you get this info that they are now helping the Kurds?

But what exactly can Iraq do about it? They were unable to stop a bunch of rabble (ISIS) in Toyota pickup trucks. Even when operating Bradleys/Abrams/SP Guns? etc. How can they pretend to be able to counter a well trained military with aerial assets in addition to well trained/equipped ground forces?

There must be a strongly worded letter we can send or sanctions we can impose. Maybe ban their guns.

I’m trying to figure it out myself; however, there are several Kurdish factions that are almost at war with each other. In general, Iraqi Kurds are not on good terms with PPK or YDP. Mainstream Iraqi Kurds are capitalist, and the latter are Marxist. They certainly tolerate each other now to defeat ISIS, but I don’t think any of them have any affinity for Erdogan and AKP. So I don’t really know what’s going on and why Turkey is in Iraqi Kurdistan (Just forget about that ever being Iraq again).

I just read a thread in which the air force says we’re running out of bombs. Apparently, the US ROE is to expend bombs on sand, rather than on enemies. Maybe the countries there should fight for their own country? Thanks DIMs/Repub-e and all the idiot voters who support these traitorous politicians.

I believe this of the Turks as much as I believe these Islamists are America’s friend. They are NOT our friends and they lie to the West regularly.
