I’ve listened to Dave Ramsey for a long time. I came into a little money about ten years ago and combined with some other funds, I paid off my 30-year mortgage in thirteen years. What a wonderful feeling that was!
And you know, I still had some mathematically challenged co-workers wondering why I’d give up that loan interest tax deduction. Sheeesh!
Congrats! We also paid our mortgage off. 33 year note in 16, including four or five years where my income was collapsing, I went back to school, changed careers, etc. At one point we were Ebay-ing all kinds of junk out of the attic to keep the house. Then, I landed my current job, and we poured it on, finished the last 1/2 of the debt in three and one half years. Puts a new meaning to PWNED!
