All Combat Roles Now Open to Women, Pentagon Says
NBC News ^ | 12/3/2015

After long periods of study and vigorous debate over the idea of women on the front lines in battle, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced today that he was tossing the entire issue out the window and that the United States military would be opening all combat roles to women at the beginning of the year.

Who gives a sh!t?

The real battles for the future of this country will take place in places like San Bernadino between law-abiding citizens and armed invaders. Who really gives a sh!t about what types of people our government decides are fit to serve in an imperial military force that is sent to Third World sh!t-holes all over the planet?

I would love to see AMERICA’S reaction to 18-25 year old women storming the beaches at Normandy and Iwo Jima.

You would never see women near a battlefield after that!

I agree! Keep your powder dry and one (or two) in the chamber.

This is a political magic trick. Instead of the rabbit being pulled out of the hat, the rabbit will die. Here’s how it will happen: Very few women, mostly officers, will volunteer to serve as infantrymen. Once assigned to infantry battalions, these women will gravitate, either by their own volition, or by virtue of their gaps in performance capability to the numerous jobs that are less strenuous. Over time, women will discover that a string of such jobs are not a fast track for promotion. Women who excel in branches more suited to women’s capabilities will leave the infantry women in their dust trail and the great social experiment will quietly end.

Women have proved their worth in the modern military, and they have excelled including in combat situations. They should be proud of their accomplishments, but those young soldiers who fall for the feminist social justice demands will be burned. Remember, those liberal social feminist sisters are never going to volunteer serve in uniform and they will leave you twisting in the wind when the Chinese Chicoms come to join you in your trench line.

Forget the physical differences, the damage to the MALE meritocracy and the MALE philosophy, which has already been fully accomplished is the destroyer. There was a reason that certain jobs in society were reserved to males and the physical angle was purely secondary.

"And how many mothers sons, wounded in battle and incapacitated, will die because some woman can't pick em up and run????"

I couldn't find even a Hollywood depiction of a female doing this.

I don’t think that many women will actually join the Infantry or Armor. There will be a few officers, looking to prove their equality...and some women will join just to have a larger pool of male suitors. Since the overwhelming majority of women cannot physically handle it, most women in combat roles will be viewed as incapable, and generally shunned by the unit...and the women will eventually come up with some ailment like shin splints, or get pregnant, to get out of the unit. Everything about it will be a huge waste of time and energy, but the ratio of male/female in an actual fighting unit would be 20:1. The big problem will occur when some of the women start to get promoted ahead of their peers, probably due to preferential treatment, and you end up with women company commanders in the infantry, etc.

I actually have a degree of experience with this. I went to West Point, which since 1976 has been an unusual laboratory in the Army...including women in all training, to include Infantry training. So I’ve witnessed up close and personal how well they do, which is generally poor with a few exceptions - and those who are exceptions are quickly pushed high up the leadership chain.

A funny anecdote. While I was at West Point, they decided to make a woman the head cadet (First Captain) for the first time. There was a formation of around a thousand New Cadets, and the superintendent made the announcement. Then an audible ‘crack’ was heard across the parade field, as a 100 year old tree in front of the historic superintendent’s quarters broke and fell to the ground. The New Cadets assembled were the class of 93 - and their unofficial motto became ‘We killed the Tree, 93’.

Anyway, I don’t hold a grudge against women, and I believe a very small percentage of women could actually be in the infantry or armor. But I always ask “What’s in it for the Army?” Is the army really so shorthanded in the combat arms? I doubt it. So if the army doesn’t need this, why do it. Same for gays. After decades of policy reviews and pentagon studies, we now have people openly gay in the military. How many? Around a dozen. I know this because that’s the number of media reports I’ve seen about this. If there were more openly gay people in the military, the media would do stories on them too. So all that disruption was for the benefit of a dozen people.

What bothers me about this also is if “big brother” gets involved and says there will be equal ratio of men to women. I put absolutely nothing past this administration and the lack of common sense which is totally absent.

“Women, in general, are better marksmen than men. Lots of research that bears this out”

Except for the MIT of marksmanship, the US Marines. They conducted a detailed careful study this year. Women were much worse.
And despite all the feel good stories about women having no bad habits to unlearn, and Soviet sniper women, etc, ad nauseum.... it is silly to pretend woman in general are better marksmen, they are not.
They do not dominate Camp Perry or and Practical Pistol competitions. They do not dominate 3 gun matches.

I think that Barak Obama’s two daughters, Malia and Sasha, should be the first two young women to volunteer for combat duty in today’s progressive military. They are healthy and strong. Barak should encourage them to join the Army and lace up those combat boots and be sent to a war zone, like maybe Syria or Afghanistan. Don’t you agree?

Just about everything thrown at us about women in combat is a false narrative. There is no reason for a woman to be in a combat front line unless she will be used as a distraction and fodder for the ones that are to really take or hold the objective. Blacks during the Civil War were used by the North in that manner in multiple battles and thereby used up the enemies ammunition.

Where is the Congress in this? If the Obama Admin and the DOD are so corrupt and evil that they would deliberately place American women in harm’s way, then it falls upon members of Congress to act by passing legislation to outlaw such policies.

Just watched a Q&A regarding women in combat. SOD was asked will women be able to opt out of taking combat roles. He said they would be subject to the same rules as men.
