Stupid is the wrong term. These people are ignorant. They are likely knowledgeable about subjects they care about. However, were poorly educated by the their schools, parents, or more likely, both.

All you've got to do is ask enough people. Then edit out all the sensible answers, and leave in all the stupid ones.
Suppose I asked 200 people: Take a guess as to what year America surrendered to the Kaiser. I'll bet I'd get 5 or so stupid answers. I could report just those 5 answers to show how dumb Americans are.
