That ISIS fighter who was seen "crying like a baby" in a video that went viral over the weekend may have had a very good reason to cry.
ISIS fighters captured in Iraq with the help of U.S. forces are allegedly being tortured, the Daily Beast reports. And because the fate of ISIS prisoners is apparently low on their priority list, the Obama administration is looking away.
On Oct. 22, a team of Kurdish soldiers, backed up by elite commandos from the U.S. Armyâs Delta Force, raided an ISIS prison compound in the Iraqi town of Hawija, where Kurdish intelligence indicated dozens of their own peshmerga fighters were being held. It turned out there were no Kurds in the prison, but 69 hostages were freed, and more than 20 ISIS fighters were killed.
The Kurds also took six ISIS fighters as their prisoners. And now, U.S. officials and humanitarian aid workers in the region tell The Daily Beast, it appears those prisoners are being tortured in Kurdish custody, in violation of international law.
Hey littly Miss Muffit....its the Kurds way
Like trump says “I’ll bring back waterboarding. Even if they are not guilty, they deserve it’ (or something like that)
I got dibs on the ears.
This is what they should be putting on leaflets to drop to ISIS, not a warning to leave their gas trucks and run!
This has to be a lie. There is no mass killing and torture anywhere except the USA. Obama sez so.
And Golden Globes....oh wait....
Some articles claim we are arming them but not enough and ISIS is better armed—from us apparently. It’s confusing.
....so you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet...
The R of E seems to be in favor of the soldiers this time.
So?
1 private guerilla army tortures prisoners of another private guerilla army. Does Geneva even apply here? The only connection to a regular state armed force is Delta — and they probably can’t be responsible for the care & feeding of ISIS POW’s.
Bada duh tump!
Where’s yer tip jar?
“it appears those prisoners are being tortured in Kurdish custody, in violation of international law”
Nonsense. According to international law, they’re illegal combatants who have no legal protections. They can be tortured, or simply summarily executed.
If you want protection, you have to put a uniform on and play by the rules.
This isn’t news. After the 2nd Gulf War our guys would catch AQ operatives and hand them over to the Kurdish police. From there they’d be disappeared after a bloddy beat down. The AQ guys would beg our troops not to be turned over to the police. This is why the Kurish part of Iraq was so quiet. AQ knew getting caught there was a long painful death sentence.
Why look the other way? Get a chair and enjoy the show.
GOOD!
It’s a pity we have to have the Kurds do what we don’t have the balls to do.
Kurds really have a bone to pick with ISIS.
They are perfectly aware of what they are doing, but ISIS set the rules of engagement, and you reap what you sow.
Do not p*ss off a Kurd. They tend to hold grudges. And they are not interested in “getting even”, when they get leverage, they want it to be overwhelming.
One can only compare this to the Italian partisans who took out Mussolini.
More recently, on Dec. 22, 1989, Romania’s Communist President Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife Elena fled Bucharest as revolutionaries stormed government headquarters. They were arrested later that day, and executed on Christmas Day after a quick trial.
The Kurds do not conduct trials.
Brutality engenders its own response.
