The Most Surprising Thing About the Colorado Springs Shooting
Red State ^ | December 1st, 2015 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 12/01/2015 5:33:35 AM PST by detective

This past Friday, a lunatic who lived in a shack with no running water or electricity killed three people in Colorado Springs, CO. He wound up going into a Planned Parenthood facility. Three people were killed. None of those were abortionists or patients. A pro-life Christian preacher/police officer was one of the victims.

Actually he is from South Carolina, as in residence. He owns a couple of low rent properties in NC but was registered to vote as a resident of SC. Not that it changes anything but I live in NC and we want to stay out of it. We are still trying to get over John Edwards, Clay Aiken, and the Duke Lacrosse mess.

He did target PP. He was hampered in his effort to kill employees and patients by the security features of the PP building.

He tried. He was going through the building.

“He did target PP. He was hampered in his effort to kill employees and patients by the security features of the PP building.

If he had targeted PP he would have entered the building quietly and unobtrusively and looked for opportunities to kill employees. He did not do that. He shot people randomly in the parking lot then ran into PP and barricaded himself inside the building.

The UCCS policeman and other s he shot were not associated with PP. The police officer was Christian and pro life.

He is mentally ill.

He shot at people in the PP parking lot.

He targeted PP.

Your continued line of delusional denial only makes the right look unintelligent.

A lot of speculation on this thread...probably because information on this has been so sparse.

I listened to the police radio traffic yesterday. What I learned:

The initial gun fire occurred in a parking lot...either the parking lot of PP or a medical building next door. There were wounded reported in both parking lots.

For at least 15 minutes, police referred to him as being behind the PP building, using it for cover. They seem to have lost eyes on him and at the 30 minute mark they see him in the building.

The bank and grocery store are around 200 yards south of PP.

Conclusions: We really have no idea why the gun fire started in the parking lot. He may have been attempting to enter PP and encountered a guard. Or, he just as easily could have been surprised while he was getting ready to rob the bank. IMHO, odds are he was there to shoot up PP...but we certainly don’t know that yet, even though the media reports it offhandedly as fact.

But the bottom line is he is a lunatic. Just like the Unabomber. The media never tarred the entire environmental movement with him, but they will use this guy to push to make pro-life speech comparable to shouting fire in a crowded theater.

“AND HOW COULD HE KNOW THE POLICE OFFICER WAS A PRO-LIFE CHRISTIAN.”

That is part of my point. He did not know. He shot people at random in the parking lot for reasons that we do not know. He was mentally ill.

He did not go into PP and try to find opportunities to shoot PP employees. If he had done that then he would have succeeded.

You are making no sense. He shot the police officer because the police officer was there to stop him.

He tried to find opportunities to shoot PP employees. He was going through the building.

And again, I know this is hard for you to understand. He is mentally ill.

Mentally ill people do not fire on all cylinders.

Otherwise he would have researched a PP facility, figured out that they are well prepared for the active shooter scenario. Their preparation is what resulted in his failing at his ultimate target.

It is time for you to stop being delusional on this topic. Reality is he targeted PP, and was unsuccessful for the most part on his ultimate goal. He was unsuccessful because he is mentally ill.

Now, lets start talking about dealing with the mentally ill in our country.

“I know this is hard for you to understand. He is mentally ill.”

I said he was mentally ill.

The media and Democrat politicians have spread the false narrative that the shooter was a pro life Christian who attacked PP because he was anti abortion and that his goal was to kill PP employees.

They have said that this is proof that pro life Christians are targeting PP and that PP employees are in danger.

The shooter was mentally ill. He randomly shot people in the parking lot for reasons no one understands. He was not Christian, He was not pro life.

He then ran into PP. He randomly shot more people. None of them were PP employees.

You say in the several hours that this went on he targeted just PP employees but did not shoot a single one, He just shot random people who were not associated with PP.

Thank you for your summary. I’ve been trying to figure this out based upon the few reports and trying to ignore the political screeching of PPH.

The shooter is mentally ill so he shot up a bunch of people outside and then fled inside into a Planned Parenthood abattoir.

Smart.

I'd say he knew where he might find a safe place when it dawned on him he had done a "bad thing".

No cop in his right mind is going to start shooting at a PP clinic even if there is a mass murderer inside. They never do - because there are usually serial murderers inside if the doors are open and nobody hardly bothers them much less tries to stop the killings.

What is actually most surprising is that there has been no information about where the altercation started. It was a snowy day there, but there were people around who could inform the media how and where it all started, but the media has been (not) surprisingly quiet. I haven't seen a single interview from a bystander. Just because the shooter ended up in the PP building doesn't mean that PP was his target or that the problem started there.

There has been some speculation that it was a bank robbery gone bad. I suppose that the truth will eventually come out, but not until long after the PP meme has been firmly planted in the public’s mind.

This is where you are delusional.

The people shot in the parking lot were associated with PP. They had brought people there; were accompanying them; were supporting them.

I never said he targeted just PP employees. This again is your being delusional. I said he tried to target PP employees; he spent time in the building, tried going through the building. He was thwarted by their security measures.

Just like the left trying to blame this on overwhelming evidence of proof of right wing terrorism against PP, you are doing more damage to the narrative.

The narrative needs to remain focused on his mental illness. Period. Trying to prove this wasn’t right wing terrorism because he “didn’t target PP” is delusional.

OMG. There is a man who was shot in the parking lot of PP; he had accompanied someone there. He has shared this with the media, everywhere.

He shot at people who were coming in and out of PP. Have we heard anything about the wounded? Were they also “visiting” PP but not patients? Strange we haven’t heard a peep out of them. (at least, not that I know of)

Yes, there is a man who was shot in his car in the PP parking lot. He gave interviews day one.

My guess is that the authorities have put gag orders on the rest of them, including this man, because we have not heard anymore from him.

I’ve been arguing this on forums for the last 3 days. It’s absolutely amazing...people actually believe the shooter went into Planned Parenthood and started shooting abortionists because of his whacko Christian beliefs. When I attempt to show them that NO abortionists or patients were killed and that he was OUTSIDE when he shot all the people they refuse to believe it. Not just refuse, but are adamant that I’m the crazy one.

I think that the narrative needs to also focus on the fact that all of the post-Sandy-Hook gun control laws that Colorado's elected democrats breathlessly passed in 2013 (Against the overwhelming wills of the voters) did NOTHING to prevent this shooting.
