Athens (dpa) - Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras took to Twitter to lash out at his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu over Ankara's downing of a Russian jet and its violations of Greece's airspace.
The tweets came after a summit in Brussels on Sunday - at which both Tsipras and Davutoglu were present - where the European Union agreed to grant Turkey 3 billion euros in aid for Syrian refugees and promised to ramp up membership talks in return for steps to curb the flow of migrants to the bloc.
In the first of four tweets, still available on Tsipras' Greek-language account @atsipras, he wrote directly addressing Davutoglu that Greek pilots are fortunately not as hot-headed as Turkish ones against the Russians.
Davutoglu @Ahmet_Davutoglu responded: "Comments on pilots by @atsipras seem hardly in tune with the spirit of the day. Alexis: let us focus on our positive agenda."
Last week, Turkish fighter jets shot down a Russian Su-24 bomber in the airspace over the Turkish-Syrian border leading to a war of words between the two countries and escalating tensions in the region.
Greek media reported that this year alone Turkey has violated Greece airspace over the Aegean Sea about 1,600 times.

Greek military needs to do a coup and remove the islamist.
Turkey set the bar for shooting down foreign military aircraft at 10 warnings. Since then they have stopped violating Greece’s airspace.
The flip side is Turkey is no longer violating Syrian airspace.
