Great stuff, Matt. There is another historical trend that may be applicable to this. That is the inherently fissiparous nature of Islam itself: there must be a Caliph, but who? Sunni or Shi'a or someone with military force sufficient to cow both, such as the Mongols or later, the Ottoman Turks (who solved the problem by stating that it didn't matter so long as they were Sultans). Islam appears formless only at the moment; even under a case of successful world conquest that centrifugal nature would endure.

That may not matter if the rest of us are dead or converted. Or it may matter a great deal if we aren't. I suspect that international socialism will find that it needs foreign troops to close the case in the United States, and the troops of international Islam strike me as the likeliest source. That would not be a terror infiltration, however, and I don't see a straight takeover holding the ghost of a chance. America remains a rock in the road of both totalitarian ambitions. May it always remain so.
