A graduate teaching assistant at the University of Missouri (MU) has been arrested and could be charged with child abuse after he allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old relative after seeing her in school without a headscarf.
Youssif Omar was reportedly at Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo., last Tuesday when he spotted the girl, and noticed that she wasn't wearing a hijab, a traditional headscarf worn by many Muslim women and that many believers regard as a religious obligation.
According to a Columbia police representative who spoke with the Columbia Daily Tribune, Omar reacted violently when he saw the relative without her head covered, slapping her, grabbing her by the hair and dragging her down a flight of stairs and out to his car.
After the incident was reported, Columbia police arrested Omar at his home Wednesday night on suspicion of felony child abuse. Omar was released after posting a bond of $4,500.
It's not clear whether the girl, whom police have not named, is Omar's daughter or some other relation.
Notably, according to Omar's LinkedIn page, he currently works as an assistant professor at the University of Missouri. He also is managing editor of MU's undergraduate writing journal Artifacts and works in the university bookstore. Prior to coming to America, Omar says he was the head of the University of Benghazi's English department in Libya.
Omar may be inflating his credentials somewhat, though. He doesn't appear in MU's faculty directory as a professor, and instead pops up as a graduate teaching assistant in Arabic.
Omar isn't the first Missouri professor to grab unwelcome headlines in November. Three weeks ago, professor Melissa Click caused a national outrage when she attempted to rouse a mob to attack a student journalist trying to cover the school's Concerned Student 1950 protests. Click has apologized and resigned a courtesy post she held with MU's journalism school, but she remains a professor at the school.
Columbia... the Ithaca, NY of Missouri. The City of Evil.
It's been reported in numerous outlets that 53-year-old Youssif Z. Omar - accused by police of slapping and dragging a teen girl from school over not wearing a Muslim headscarf - is a University of Missouri professor. But Mizzou said Sunday that's not the case.
"Mr. Omar is not employed at Mizzou," the school's official Twitter account noted. "He was formerly a graduate student with an assistantship." The tweet added that Omar's job ended in July.
Wrong verb.
Send him back to Benghazi.
Islam is such a ‘peaceful’ religion, don’t you think????..................
The "Graduate school Advisor of The Year calling for muscle to rid herself of a student journo. She reminded me of The Godfather in a red fright wig.....too bad when she said "break his legs and put him in cement overshoes" was not caught on camera.

From “assistant professor” to ‘graduate teaching assistant’ in short order.
53 is kinda old for graduate teaching assistant...
The poor girl deserves a safe space from Islam.
Where’s the islamic associate professor to force her to wear a hajib by yanking her hair when you need him?
He was released on bail. The police better keep an eye on the girl 24/7 so he or another male relative doesn’t get revenge with an honor killing.

Hmmmm. Sounds familiar.
A good public whipping might convince him of the error of his ways. Nothing too severe, but be sure it is done publicly.
Obama says it’s not his fault, it’s just a result of Global Warming.
“The baby boomers should not have forced everyone to go to school.”
They are lazy. Instead of training people they hire, they demand someone else, like colleges, do it for them.
They are also very pop-culture (read: popular) oriented. Colleges were cool so everyone must go.
About 25 years ago, they gave us a new muslim boss. He walked in my office first thing to announce he didn’t like me. Yeah, I’m female and left handed. At the time, I was naïve about muslims but got a quick education. A few weeks later, a client had given me two watermelons (rural area) so I tried to give him one as a peace offering. The man jumped back like it was a rattlesnake. He was a horrid nasty creature who ran off the entire staff except me and a guy in another town. Our goal was to outlast him but eventually it was more prudent to quit. Never understood why HQ kept him on except for diversity.
You are so right, unless you are going for STEM, Phd, or lawyer, college is really nothing more than over qualified job training, and yeah better to train someone to your standard than to let someone else, that’s how it was done back then and we need to go back to that.

You’re right..reminds me of Omar Obama’s pedigree claims at U of Chicago..
