At least in my opinion, that is exactly what Obama should do. We have no dog in this fight. Turkey shot first. There is no Chapter 5 attack here.

And if the Turks get to the Golan, I wonder if their fire discipline will be a slight bit better.

The closer to Syria the less gas Russia has to expend to get to them to destroy them.

It's Russia that's out on a limb here-- they can barely support the logistics tail they have and the Turks can close the Bosporus to Russian ships at any time.
Short of nuking them, there's not much the Russians can do in this situation.

Yes- that’s the big unknown here, although Russia’s options are not very good in this theater of operations.

Ha ha— sometimes war comes to you even if you’re not looking for it. In fact, especially if you’re not looking for it.

The Russian logistics train is in a sorry state for their present disposition, so the Turks move material from eastern Thrace. Am I missing something here?

The Turks are repositioning military assets from the Greek and Bulgarian borders (traditional areas of hostilities and possible sources of attack in the past) to the Syrian border.
This means the Turks are not going to roll over for any more Russian provocations, and may in fact occupy parts of Syria themselves.
