Turkey seemed to be on the path to shaking off the shackles of primitive Islamic law when Kemal Ataturk secularized the country in the early 20th century. Show me the modern Islamic state which is not aggressive, regressive, and incompatible with western civilization. Then I'll believe that Islam has a chance to placed with modern civilized religions.
