...you lose a lot of potential support and give a ready made television ad to your opponent.
Better to prepare a statement and don’t allow yourself to be caught off guard.
Why not...a cop was killed and 2 civilians...sheesh. Whatever the motive is...innocent people died. What if this happened to a member of your family?

He must believe that people will think he is “for” those murders if he doesn’t condemn them. Strange.
