St. Paul schools consider ban on Washington Redskins gear
St Paul Pioneer Press ^ | 11/28/15 | Josh Verges

Skyler Kuczaboski hadn't given much thought to the Washington Redskins mascot before last year.

Now, the Harding High School junior and Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe member is in position to influence a ban on it and other racist mascots from St. Paul Public Schools.

"I think that the Redskins logo and emblem and all that isn't seen as racist by a lot of people," she said, "but I think that if there was more knowledge about native people and where the Redskins term derived from, then people wouldn't want to wear that."

Kuczaboski was editor-in-chief for the Harding newspaper last year when a group of American Indian students complained to administrators about a Redskins jersey another student had worn to school.

Kuczaboski said that she doesn't follow football and that the mascot didn't bother her until she learned about the history of the word. During the 19th century, some used "redskin" to refer to American Indian scalps collected for bounty.

She now considers it "one of the ugliest, most derogatory terms" a person can use to refer to an American Indian. She said banning the mascot from the schools would raise awareness of the word's history.

Name them the fighting whiteys. See if I care. Then again, I am not part of the perpetually offended. Life is way too short for that.

IOW, until she was indoctrinated in proper political correctness.

***Ojibwe member is in position to influence a ban on it and other racist mascots***

DRIVE THE INDIANS UNDERGROUND! MAKE THEM A NON-PERSON! Remove them from the Collective conscience of the Liberal Mind!
When the kids say...”Grandpa, what was an Indian?” The liberal cleansing will be complete!

In other news it has been said that there is NO bad publicity! Teams named for Indian tribes always keep their name and reputation as fierce fighters in the public view. It is as if to say...”Hey, WE are still here!”

Just make sure you spell the name right.

What these people don’t seem to understand is that sports teams etc. are named after things we admire, respect or fear.
Things like, oh- jaguars, falcons, bears, lions, vikings, cougars, patriots, eagles, devils, angels, hurricanes, typhoons, lightning, trappers, tigers, the list goes on.

We don’t name our teams for things we don’t respect, such as weasels, worms, botflies, slugs, etc.

This student was editor-in-chief of the school paper as a sophomore??? Color me not surprised when it results in sophomoric thinking like displayed on this subject.

No team clothes for a fan of a football team but choose your gender and use whichever locker room you want.

How much market is there for Washington Redskins' merchandise in Minnesota?

Shouldn't it be Scandinavian kids going after the Vikings (or that Fargo show)?

Talk about macroaggressions. How can you survive after seeing something like that?

Mrs. Kuczaboski’s little Skylar (Polish Indians) will be going for the big kahuna, Old Glory, next. After all, the Cavalry carried Old Glory with them when they went into battle.

If Sitting Bull and Tecumseh referred to themselves, and their people, as "redskins", then the little boy certainly does need to shut his fat mouth and try to learn something from history and his own culture.

Sadly, public indoctrination facilities do not teach anything but idiocy and lemmingpolitik.

I doubt that Kuczaboski would understand that she would be a racist and a fool if she takes action against the word redskin because sometime, somewhere, someone used the word in a derogatory manner.
