There is a pic of that “cross” in one of the articles and it’s two sticks crossed sideways. Doesn’t look like a religious cross to me.
The one photo looked like it was oriented the wrong way. But the first time I saw a photo of the house, i saw the cross on the outside of the add-on part. The horizontal part was not straight, may have slipped. It’s hard to imagine what else it could have been on there for.
