But that's what they are...
...especially Rove...

Ok, Karl. You might consider talking to McCain about trashing fellow Repubs as ‘Wacko Birds’, though...

I agree. I have spent the last 8 years cringing every time this President opens his mouth. I want a President I can be proud of. Not one who mocks his opponents and makes fun of their looks. Is that asking too much?

“Clown Moron.. Isn’t that rove’s middle name?”

Yes. And, oh how the mighty have fallen.

[Oh yes, but the lemmings of the GOPe can call Trump and his followers “jackasses” and “crazies”.]

Don’t leave out “ilk” and “right-wing fringe” and “loonies”.

I am no Rove fan and I think after the first Bush II campaign he has been a damaging force in the GOP because he has been wrong about so many things - his “strategy” sucks.

However, I will swim against the tide here. I don’t think Rove was trying to be particularly brilliant or clever here - many pundits and many FReepers have said the same thing about Trump. It’s not some special political observation - it’s a simple observation about the DNA of Americans that we learned in kindergarten. Many of us (oh my gosh, beer is about to say something many will perceive as less than adoring about Trump) are concerned that Trump will lose a few points due to this stump speech behavior when it’s not necessary.

It’s a simple win-loss calculation. If he grinds his boot on those he defeats in the primaries it stands to reason that he will lose some potential voters/supporters in the general. Americans like a gracious winner. Trump is winning, but there is little graciousness involved. While we may chuckle and even agree with his summation of “insert vanquished primary opponent here” all he has to do is reach out to those voters on ideas and he will pick up the majority of votes.

It’s not me or my preference - the man who undeniably advanced conservatism the most in my lifetime (and built a massive coalition of Americans) was one of the most humble men I have ever studied -

His words on negotiation - I learned a few lessons about negotiating: You are unlikely to ever get all you want; you will probably get more of what you want if you do not issue ultimatums and leave your adversary room to maneuver; you should not back your adversary into a corner, embarrass him, or humiliate him; and sometimes the easiest way to get some things done is for the top people to do them alone and in private.

His words demonstrating the humble spirit - The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.

I wish Trump would study the life of this man because he led the closest thing to a national revival that I will see in my lifetime. He also had the most overwhelming victories. He was the biggest “winner”, but he is most often remembered for his humility.

[How many have called Trump a clown and worse?]

JEB was the first to call TRUMP a clown. It was one his first ‘attack’ ads.

With all the abuse the GOP and Left have thrown at Trump, they have a lot of nerve criticizing him.

Yes, he should call them baby-killers, queers, thieves and dirtbags.

We’re hiring a commander in chief, not a likeable-guy-in-chief. It’s not as though they want Trump any way. Hell, the Repubs are spending millions to take him out of the race...I thought they were running against Dems?

Right, and have no fear, if Donald wins, Mr. Rove will be right there sucking his a$$.

Uh...you’re wrong about Donald lacking grace. As long as one is not in his way, then they are ok. As soon as Perry dropped out. He was a ‘nice guy’. As soon as Walker fell out, he became a ‘good guy’. See how that works? So simple!

I recall numerous GOPe supporters calling D. Trump these names. John McCain called Trump supporters as crazies. Some posters here call those who have something positive to say about Trump as something like frenzied Trumpters. I have forgotten the exact labels.

I don’t think Trump is the person he is portrayed as by the soundbites the media collects, but you have to admit that most Americans don’t follow the campaign or skeptically view what they read or hear in the news like we do.

Simple - avoid the soundbites and you don’t give them the ammunition in the first place or allow them to define you as something you are not. He has the perfect opportunity to live the lessons of Reagan and he would be well advised to do it!

‘’Rove understand that is will not be invited to the GOP money trough’’

If Trump wins, what will Rove and Perino do? No more insider dinner parties. They’ll be curled up fetal position in some corner — preferably not together.

Instead of all this sissyfied “Mommy he called me a name” BS, why don’t Rove just come out and say he is for the opposite of what Trump wants? Say he is for open borders, for the rest of the world eating our lunch in trade, against enhanced interrogations etc, etc. He can’t because then people would think he too switched his party.

Well, yes, but he’s right. Still, it’s rude language and doesn’t sound especially “presidential”.
