I live in Hawaii (Maui). I have encountered nothing but friendliness.

Hawaii has benefited greatly, enormously, by being a State and most people here are well aware of that.

This is a nutcase fringe.

There is an active Republican party here trying to oust the corrupt dems but it’s an uphill battle.

Most people here are not political.

Very interesting. My old classmate was stationed at Pearl for a number of years. He said that some of the people frankly hated non Polynesians, and he saw enough that convinced him to leave. That and he “Had seen all of the islands and got bored”. The latter is why he now lives in Arizona I guess.

A doctor of ours was also in Hawaii for 20 years. They returned to the Midwest for a number of reasons, but she also mentioned that the increase of native groups adjitating for secession was “getting annoying”.

The next time I run into them, I will ask for clarification.
