Private citizens are not the police or the military and they are not for the most part trained to go up agains’t superior firepower and live to tell about it. Private citizens carry weapons in case they are confronted by an assailant and need to defend themselves.
I also said that trying to use handguns to fight terrorists with AK’s was a losing proposition and I would not do it except for covering fire as I left the area in a hurry
I even used the example of the marine recruiting office that was attacked by one lone assailant with a tactical weapon. One or more trained military personnel who had unauthorized personal handguns were not able to defend themselves or takedown the assailant and they were killed. You or I would have even less chance.

For example, no one is denying the superiority of a frigging battle rifle over a handgun. That was only an issue in your fantasy. The ISSUE, is the moral imperative to fight back against a terrorist who is walking around shooting unarmed people, like was done in France. If you notice the photos of that scene, many cops there were armed only with pistols. The difference is that they were on the attack. What you mocked - the very idea of looking at others as your own family - they lived. They were willing to fight and die, if necessary, against these barbaric monsters because what they lived for, because that's what they believed in.
