Cannot the Congress vote to defund the “Office of Refugee Resettlement” until it can vouch for every last refugee it seeks to place in the US? And I mean DEFUND it! No more mamby pamby from the Congress.
Go back and read “5 felonies a day” and get creative. For example:
* freeze the funds of any State or City agency related to the resettlement
* Freeze the funds of any NGO that is aiding the resettlement, and do a forensic accounting of their activity looking for fraud
* Do a building code inspection of any buildings that are to be used in the resettlement.
* Do a zoning code inspection of the facilities.
* Do a health inspection of any facility that is to be used to feed the refugees.
* Repair the water main feeding such a facility
* Repair the electrical power lines leading to the facilities.
* Review all of the official paperwork for the organization, and freeze all accounts while it is being investigated.
There are so many laws in this country that any State, County, or City can shut down any organization for months or even years and stay within the law if they really want to. And they can justify their actions by claiming they are only ensuring the safety of the refugees when they arrive.
