BLOOMBERG: Ted Cruz 'says some of the stupidest things I've ever heard' ("Climate Change")
Business Insider ^ | November 27, 2015 | Colin Campbell

Posted on 11/27/2015 9:34:42 AM PST by Isara

...Michael Bloomberg...trashed two top-tier Republican presidential candidates in a CNN interview airing Friday.

After dismissing "right-wing crazies" who reject mainstream climate science, Bloomberg was asked by CNN's Christiane Amanpour what he made of the GOP field.

...

"There's one of them who was a surgeon, unfortunately at Johns Hopkins, who doesn't believe in science," Bloomberg said. "Somebody said that's like a business executive that doesn't believe in profits."

Bloomberg then said that Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas had said some of the "stupidest" things about climate change despite his intellect. He noted that Cruz's intelligence had been praised by Alan Dershowitz, a prominent US attorney who was once Cruz's Harvard professor.

"You've got a guy like Ted Cruz - who I think Dershowitz said was the smartest law student he ever had - and he says some of the stupidest things I've ever heard," Bloomberg said. "The only explanation - the only explanation - is he doesn't believe it; he's just saying it."

He added: "Ted Cruz is a smart guy, and you can't say what he says in an intelligent way."

Cruz, who has surged in recent primary polls, has not shied away from criticizing mainstream climate science.

"If you look at satellite data for the last 18 years, there's been zero recorded warming," Cruz said in August, according to Time magazine. "The satellite says it ain't happening ... I'm saying that data and facts don't support it."

Reached for comment on Bloomberg's criticism, Cruz campaign spokesman Rick Tyler dismissed the former mayor as a "myopic" elitist.

"The myopic Mr. Bloomberg should look past his armed guards and beyond his cloistered circumstances and take in a big gulp of reality," Tyler told Business Insider. "Most of what Ted Cruz says is simple common sense. Most of what Mr. Bloomberg says defies logic."

I know one thing, Bumberg, Ted won’t care how much salt you use, or how big your soda is, you egotistical, leftist reprobate. Ted will take care of the big things; you just keep sticking with the little stuff because you don’t even do that well!

I prefer to go directly to the source of the data

University of Alabama at Huntsville (UAH)

Remote Sensing System (RSS)

Anyone that wishes to engage in an honest discussion on AGW admits that a slight warming is occurring. One can of course cherry pick a data set and get the desired outcome. Torture the data long enough and it will confess to any sin you want. However if you cherry pick your data no one will take you seriously on the subject.

The image you used picked has as it's start date the year with the strongest El Nino on record which lead to an unusually high global temperature. An alarmist would (cherry) pick a chilly 1985 as a start date and thus the data would confess to a rapidly warming climate. Neither represents reality, the reality is the climate has been very stable for the past 200 years, sometimes slightly warming and sometimes slightly cooling. On the millennial scale the climate is on a long term cooling trend with ups, Roman Warm Period and downs, Little Ice Age.

You would be wise to stop blindly accepting what ever you favorite politician says as the gospel and spend a little time investigating things for your self.

So who do you support with a perfect record?
Sorry a degree or three up or down in 18 years is nothing.
Cruz is the best it gets.

I like the guy that twitted the following

It's really cold outside, they are calling it a major freeze, weeks ahead of normal. Man, we could use a big fat dose of global warming!

This very expensive GLOBAL WARMING bullshit has got to stop. Our planet is freezing, record low temps, and our GW scientists are stuck in ice

Any and all weather events are used by the GLOBAL WARMING HOAXSTERS to justify higher taxes to save our planet! They don't believe it $$$$!

The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.

It's snowing & freezing in NYC. What the hell ever happened to global warming?

Ice storm rolls from Texas to Tennessee - I'm in Los Angeles and it's freezing. Global warming is a total, and very expensive, hoax!

Wow. You sound like an Obama/Al Gore troll. I simply said that over the last almost 19 years there has been zero warming and you post leftist slime to me about cherry picking data.

The fact is I didn't cherry pick the peak of an El Nino for a starting point which was mid '98. The starting point in the graph is 2 1/2 years before the El Nino peak when the temperatures was colder at the start of 1996. Add to that, the point we are at now is roughly the peak of the latest El Nino and not 2 1/2 years before, which would actually increase the bias toward warming.

I bet you that goes right over your head so I will repeat it again. The starting point of the graph is a colder 2 1/2 years before an El Nino peak, and the end point is at or maybe about a month before an El Nino peak.

As I pointed out to you, over the last almost 19 years, there has been zero warming.

BTW, why did you cherry pick 1979. Nobody is disputing that there was an increase in global temperature from 1979 to 1996. The claim is that there was no global warming starting in 1996. So to post a graph starting in 1979 to prove that there was some global warming starting in 1996 is not very smart.

The “Big Gulp” reference by the Cruz campaign in it’s response was a very nice, and subtly brutal, response.

I didn't. This data is directly from UAH and RSS. Untouched by me. I believe 1979 is when reliable global satellite temperature data first became available.

Har! I hadn't made the connection to Bloomberg's failed attempt to ban large sodas in NYC until you capitalized those two words in the statement from the Cruz campaign. Good catch!

Bloomberg starting to get the message? Global Action Pact on Climate Change more important than gun control???

These gun control nuts have been off the reservation, I think someone is starting to smack them in the back of the head to get on script.
