According to Turkish media, Ankara halted the flights of its aviation over Syria.

ANKARA – Turkey has suspended its Air Force flights over Syria in the international coalition campaign in the fight against the Islamic State after the downing of the Russian Su-24 Fencer bomber, Turkey's Hurriyet newspaper reported Friday, citing diplomatic sources.

On Tuesday, a Turkish Air Force F-16 downed the Russian bomber 4 kilometers from the Turkish border. Both the Russian General Staff and the Syrian Air Defense Command confirmed that the Su-24 never crossed into Turkish airspace and was shot down over Syrian territory, citing precise objective control data.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union the only reason to play nice with the Turks has been Constantinople. That one city sits astride a vital shipping lane, the Bosporus strait I think.

Since they have gone full muzlim I have no doubt they would close that water corridor in a heartbeat if they felt inspired to.
That would take a full military invasion and occupation by someone to get it and keep it open.
That is the *only* card the Turks have and you can be sure they have mentioned it.

oh, it IS a proxy war, regardless of what odumbo says.

or he wouldn’t be shipping tons of weapons to Saudi Arabia and rebels, of which a majority are going to end up in ISIS hands.

wow. I didn’t know that. thanks for sharing.

I know nothing of Turkey’s army, air force or navy. I am going to take a peek to see, not if they can win against us or Russia, but if they could cause enough damage to deter a fight.

That’s why it’s just popcorn time. I have no idea who the good guys are, who the bad guys are, who we’re supporting, etc. For example... we’re the Saud’s byeatch, but we just gave Iran nukes and 150 billion semolians. How does that work in real time?

So we are ostensibly bombing the same people we’re giving wee-upons to. It boggles.

Because I dont want American men dying to protect muzzies

I think that if and when Russia has been pushed by Obucketocrap enough and comes out against the US officially, then Obama declares a shooting war with Russia, the coupe takes place.

I believe (hope to hell)the Generals and other officers that have been ousted during the questioning of “will you kill American Citizens” and the non-queer purge are aligned and waiting for the time.

This mad man needs to be put in a cage and in chains. Of course along with most of his admin.

With the Iran deal, I think they’re just buying as much time as possible and passing the buck and the blame to the next President if it falls apart. I imagine that Saudi Arabia agreed to the deal before we did.

“Likely they know the Russians intend to shoot them down, the next time they try to bomb the Kurds in Syria.”

Or intercept the Russians during one of their anti-terrorist operations. The pilot will be yelling Allah-Akabar or whatever while trying to get his chute deployed. The idiot locals will think he’s a Russian and put a bunch of holes in him on the way down.

Constantinople, therefore Turkey, has been the gateway to Europe since the Byzantine Empire fell.
Control Constantinople (Istanbul) and you cut off a muzlim gateway to Europe.
Take Constantinople (istanbul) and the entire muzlim world would show up to fight you, IMHO.

Ain’t no easy answer to that equation, but with Erdogan making Turkey an Islamic rather than a secular nation all things need to be considered.

Someone will have to deal with it at some point in time. Either the Russians or us, maybe Europe collectively.
Right now Mad Vlad from Moscow is the only person with the bloody mindset to tackle it and not even I think Putin is that ambitious.

Yep. They were even the market for ISIS’ cheap oil. Thankfully, Putin bombed the ir tankers.

SputnikNews is a branch of Russian propaganda service aimed at western commies. This means they can lie much more than the other branch RussiaToday. I wouldn’t trust anything I read in SputnikNews.

Because Putin tells him to.
