I worked for many years for a Dutch company in Eastern NL about two hours due south of Enschede. Developed many good friends during that time. Assuming (as many people do)that you can measure the Dutch based on Amsterdam is a bit like judging all Californians based on San Francisco.
Almost all the people I worked with and knew had beliefs well founded in a conservative/libertarian vein, more so then I expected.
They were not from Amsterdam, don’t remember the name of their town.
Before my Dutch friends moved to Texas they lived in New Jersey for 20 years. They were avid readers of the New York Times. They believed every word they read there. I have no idea what they believed when they came to NJ from Holland.
I do know my friend was a pacifist. She was born in 1941 and her first memories were of WW 2 happening around her.
That experience would have made me want to fight but it had the opposite affect on her.
