Eight of nine bikers named in sealed indictments two weeks ago for their alleged roles in the Twin Peaks shootout have been taken into custody, while the last one remains at large.
The nine were among 106 bikers indicted Nov. 10 on first-degree felony engaging in organized criminal activity charges. The nine were indicted under seal because they had not been arrested before the grand jury session.
On Wednesday, McLennan County District Clerk Jon Gimble unsealed the indictment charging Cory McAlister, 36, of Ore City. McAlister was taken into custody last week, but his indictment was not unsealed until Wednesday.
Gimble said an eighth man was arrested in Tyler this week and remained in the Smith County Jail on Wednesday. His indictment remains sealed, along with his identity, Gimble said.

Others booked
Others named in sealed indictments who have been booked into the McLennan County Jail or other jails include Christopher Carrizal Sr., 50, of Dallas; Jerry Edward Pierson, 49, of Dallas; Paul Russell Miller, 39, of Gholson; Ray Asbary Nelson, 42, of Waco; Jeffrey Veillon, 53, of Wylie; and Clifford Pearce, 52, of Waco.
The first six taken into custody turned themselves in.

Sheriff Parnell McNamara said a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force and his deputies have been rounding up the bikers named in the sealed indictments.
A McLennan County grand jury is scheduled to meet again Wednesday. McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna said the remaining 80 cases arising from the 177 arrested May 17 will be considered by a grand jury âin some form or fashion.â He declined to elaborate.
Nine bikers were killed and 20 others were wounded in the clash of rival groups during a Sunday noon-hour meeting of bikers at the now-defunct restaurant.
Last week, six bikers filed civil rights lawsuits against Reyna, Waco Police Chief Brent Stroman, Waco police Detective Manuel Chavez and an unnamed Texas Department of Public Safety employee. The suits were filed in federal court in Austin.

The best I can figure is that these 9 folks were among the wounded and hospitalized, and therefore were not arrested with the other 177.
I’m guessing these 9 had gunshot wounds which differentiated them from the others involved.
Is that correct?
I do not know.
How very Waco of them to wait until the day before Thanksgiving to arrest them. Now they probably won’t get to see a judge for bail until after the 4 day weekend.

The ones that turned themselves in are eating turkey with their families today.
Ya know, it’s amazing how smoothly everything has gone for Texas LE since the Twin Peaks massacre. Some of you might remember all the mumblings and warning from the police and others about how it would be “open season” on cops and the like in the wake of what went down in Waco.
Strangely, despite claims that bikers are a bunch of violent, lawless, criminal thugs that operate completely outside of the law, it would appear that nothing of the kind happened.
Most, but not all. Cory McAlister (the unsealed indictment in today's report), for example, is not among the wounded listed in the indictment.
I believe that all six previously unsealed are listed among the wounded on the indictment. I KNOW that these six are named on the indictment, not positive (but pretty sure) they are the previously sealed, recently unsealed indictments:
Technically, all wounded, not sure all were shot.
Q: How does an elephant hide in a cherry tree?
A: It paints its toenails red.
Q: Have you ever seen an elephant in a cherry tree?
A: No.
Punchline: It works pretty good, doesn't it!

You lay low when you have a tracking system on you and you have a murder affidavit filed.
There ya go again.... trying to insert common sense and critical thinking into criminal biker gang groupie-talk.

Ahh....so that’s why you’ve been laying low these many weeks. I had assumed you were living on the lamb for one reason or another.
By the way...IATG.
You mean there are less than 200 evil bikers in Texas? Wow. Good to know. You're an idiot.
Oh...and you’ve brought along your fellow statist defender X-spurt. How sweet.
“I had assumed you were living on the lamb for one reason or another.”
England, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Croatia ...
“You mean there are less than 200 evil bikers in Texas?”
That is NOT what I meant ...
But I am used to having my meanings twisted and misrepresented ...
The first guys that turned themselves in were among the wounded. Don’t know about the latter.
“The ones that turned themselves in are eating turkey with their families today.”
As usual; you are way out there in left field like any good liberal democrat and completely missed the point.
How very TG of you.
Don’t worry, we will try real hard to not run the score up. The reason we now and then inject even a wee bit of wisdom and cognitive thinking into these discussions is to try to keep the gang defenders from being lost completely.
I know it doesn’t feel nice and cozy to have your foibles so exposed in this public display, although it is actually good for you. All saying the same bleat “Baaa, Baaa” all the time is boring for both writer and reader.
